    Niche ? Authority ?

you could update whenever you want, if its good content.
best way to do this is post every week - from my experience.

There is no defined rule or anything. But as often as possible is better.

Thanks Nags for a fast response.
Just to make sure i understand. Do I add more content to what is already there? Or do I add new content and replace?

    What I would do:
-1 NEW article per week or at least 2 per month
-Target a new keyword in every post

That should get your traffic on the way up

Thanks WittyT, I will do this. Should I use the Google keyword generator to see what keywords pay better?

Then you make ****ty sites like the one you linked to in your sig. You think you're going to rank that site for terms like "laptop computer" and "diamond ring"? Look at your site! What a ****ing piece of ****; you think it deserves to be page 1 for ANYTHING?

      Get real.
Wow, Do you feel better getting that out? lol.
Do a Google search for "affordable apple ipads" my page is on the first page.
Maybe I need to better the site. But it is all a work in progress.

If you can update or create new contents daily that will be best for your site. But for updating contents daily please don't make any compromise with the content quality. Google is a quality hunter and will pay higher through Adsense if your contents are of high quality.

To see the CPC of your KW, use Google Contextual Targeting Tool... but make sure that you can rank for those first, right?

You don't need to update content at all, it's one of the biggest misconceptions in IM.

Although mikeshinobi brings it a bit harsh there is a lot of truth in what he says.

There is only 1 good reason to add content, and that is cause you want to target more keywords, but to do so you need linkjuice, so the more juice your site gets the more content you could add, at least that would give you a reason to add content. Another misconception that everyone seems to adore after panda / penguin updates is that content ranks out of itself, well let me tell you, it does NOT.

Thanks nikO, I will take this into consideration. I will update my site with content like the other dozen posts said and see what happens.

Sure do as you wish, big chance you end up with a site with 100 pages of content that is ranking nowhere, same like the site I did a test study on to see how well content ranks. But yeah a dozen noob posts proof more then 1 case study

I got to try and see what happens. Like I told mikeshinobi, my one page is on first page of Google. for "Affordable Apple ipads" with 560,000,000 results. The Domain is 5 weeks old.

That is awesome because according to the GKT, the keyword "affordable apple ipads" gets zero searches a month. That is probably why you are on page 1. Nobody is targeting that keyword because NOBODY is searching for it.

Second, whoever told you that the number of results that show up in the index when you do a search (in this case 560,000,000) has anything to do with the level of SEO competition for keyword clearly has no idea what they are doing. I would suggest you stop listening to them.

People need to stop thinking that they need to constantly update content in order to get rankings. That is complete horse****. There are plenty of sites that have not been updated in years and rank great for very competitive terms. The answers are all right there in the SERPs already.

Now if you are running a newspaper website, yeah you better update content, but even that is more for your readers than search engines. A sports site, same thing.

People saying that you need to post a new article every week or whatever other magical time frame they pulled out of their arse are completely wrong on this.

And if you really want to rank, I would get rid of those silly signature links.

That is the reason I asked the question in the first place.
I cant assume a poster with 100 post is any less credible than another poster with 2000+ posts.

Whats wrong with my signature? It's my sites. Just like your signature

I could care less about post count. People in this thread are just regurgitating incorrect information they heard from wannabe "gurus". Needing to update content constantly to get better rankings is a huge IM myth. So is the one about how "Google loves blogs". Google could care less if a site is or has a blog.

My signature is for direct traffic, not for SEO.

Four links to unrelated websites in an unrelated forum looks like a lot of spam to me.

Unrelated to what? They are my sites. If it is against WF. I will remove them.

It is not against WF. You are fine there.

I mean unrelated to eachother and unrelated to this forum. If someone told you there was a significant SEO benefit to cramming your signature with links, they were wrong.

EDIT: nevermind, I see that they are all different pages of the same site. Even less valuable SEO-wise.

On a side note, you might want to read this...

            http://googlewebmastercentral.blogsp...provement.html

You have some significant space being taken up above the fold with your AdSense adblock. Might make it more challenging to rank.

    Great example, 0 exact searches!

Sure 0 exact searches can mean that it still gets some traffic so how many visitors do you get based on that keyword? 5/month?

But like I said, you can better listen to noobs who try to be helpful or try to increase their post count then people who ranked 100's of sites and do this for a living.

    I agree with Mike.

I think you should look at your niche. Is it likely to update your website on a regular base?

For example: I am in a tiny niche with one of my websites and everything can be said with one simple page.

A lot of my competitors doesn't have more than one page and still ranks in the top 10.

If your competitors are updating every day, you should also.

If they NEVER update, you can probably update never too.

Just update your content when you feel you can do it. Do not just post something in order to keep your site updated. This can harm your site instant of helping it.

OP how often you need to update your content is actually over answered in WF and other IM forums. Even some gurus say you need to see the keyword first. If the keyword demand regular content updates then you need to update contents. But the truth is google gives very little value to regular content update. On the other hand backlinks and proper onpage factors play most important role in ranking.
