How to rank a site (Fast but very low competitive)

It is just my name that I want to rank my site for, but want to get it high pretty quickly? Whats the quickest way? I was thinking a few .edu links and few social bookmarks but went from rank 10 to off, can I get sandboxed for just doing that?

    Create a nice main page with good on-site SEO and let the page sit for a bit, for most people it won't take long to rank for their name, unless you share it with some famous people. Chances are good you won't need to worry about any complicated backlinking strategy I think.

    You could try a pad blast, those kick in pretty fast most of the time. You can also do some bookmarking at the best bookmark sites like Delicious, Reddit, Stumbleupon and a few others but not sure if that will be real effective.

    And yes EDU links are spammy as hell (at least the ones that you can achieve easily)
