Hi,

I am running a PPC campaign.

As per Google adwords status the average position(Avg .Pos) for one of my keyword is 4.

But that keywords is ranking on position 3(sponsored listing) on Google search.

Is this improvement is based on the quality score or by any other else.

Waiting for your reply.

Warmest regards,

  • It's the average. Just because you see it in the third position doesn't mean that everyone sees it in the third position at every time of the day.

    • Average is a subjective term, it differs from person to person. Period.
  • Average is not subjective at all. It is real and measurable. It's just that many people have the wrong idea about its meaning.

Take four impressions. One ads shows in second position, two in fifth and the last in eighth. The average is 5.0 (20 / 4). It doesn't mean that, as Kirk pointed out, that every impression was or will be in fifth. It means that the average was in fifth. The next one may be in second or third or seventh. In which case, the average would move accordingly: 4.4 (22/5), 4.6 (23/5) or 5.4 (27/5).
  • hitting your budget is really all that matters.
