Page not found issue

I have a page A, which is linked from page B. The problem is page A does not exist, so return 404 error. I then update page B and remove page A link and update it to the correct url page C.
So should I put 301 redirect from page A to page C, considering there is no more link to page. Will google correct it self later on and not crawl page A again. The problem is there are lots of these links. It would be hard to do all the 301 redirect.
