301 redirect - using SAME backlinks?

Hello,

Some time ago I made 301 redirect from "old domain" to "new domain" since I needed to change the URL. After few weeks I gained back my old rankings..

Now I have a question: For example, let's say my "old domain" backlink was on the blabla.com/my-backlink. What If I add my "new domain" backlink to the same place (blabla.com/my-backlink)? Does it carry the link juice? Does it help in rankings? Or is it totally worthless?

Thanks

  • I'm not sure if I understood your question, but one thing is sure:

Open the pages where your backlinks are placed on a browser.
Click on your backlinks and wait until the page loaded.
The url in the address bar now is the page that is getting juice.

    • You didn't understand my questions. My question is "how to backlink NEW domain after 301 redirect". Is it OK if add my link to same places where are the links of a OLD domain. Or is it worthless?

  • Yes it will help pass juice through the 301.
  • With a properly created 301 redirect you should pass the majority of your link juice back to your new page. I'd say between 80-90% of the juice goes along just from past campaigns I've ran for clients.

We've seen a bit of proof of this now that Penguin is out and we've seen this can have an opposite effect as well though and pass "negative" link juice or a penalty to your new site.
