Is My Blogsite Suitable For Monetizing

Okay, I have been scouring the forums and I have found dilemmas just like mine but I am going to be cheeky and just ask the question straight out.... would anyone mind taking a look at my Blogsite and offering any critisism or advice.

I opened the site in 2007 and it told the story of our emigration from UK to Canada (5 years ago yesterday). I never intended to monetize it, just tell a story.

Well the theme of it has changed now and so has it's name. The title is "The Inquiring Mind" and I write about anything off-beat, camping, fishing, unexplained phenomenon..... and I also promote amazon (and other products)

I average 500+ hits per day and score about 10 clicks per day into Amazon and so far sold 1 book (over a 2 month period)

Would anyone mind taking a look and and try to point out where I am going wrong.... or what I can do to bring in the conversions. Im not even sure now if this sort of Blog is just too big to use as a sales tool.

Anyway I would appreciate any feedback and don't spare my feelings... I just want to make this work.

Thanks... the Blog is at lyndon001 (dot) blogspot (dot) com

well, you need to add content on your website,, you need to do every thing legit before you apply to adsense or you monetize it. Try to build some traffic on your website..

Thanks Supertintin, there are almost a thousand articles on there though. I know what you mean about the traffic and there can never be enough.

The feedback I was really looking for was whether that style and size of blog was suitable for the type of promoting I am doing or whether I would be better building smaller sites and using that blog to generate traffic.

I would love to change the URL address but would that mean I would lose my ranking etc...

I am a noob myself, but I noticed a few things:
      1. Google friend connect, hit counter, and Fijit should go to the bottom of the page.
      2. Possibly because of all these javascript things the page loads slowly.
      3. What are you selling? Discount Bibles? I have not read the whole site, but my impression it's sort of paranormal/new age, etc. So, sell some related stuff, maybe even clickbank has something relative.

The other links on the banner top are not related to the content and should go off. Put links to your product offer (not a supplement store that you have there now).

In other words, I think your site needs to be more concentrated on one subject.

      4. Instead of page counter, friends, etc. make a widget to give away some free ebook or something and have people sign up. That's your goldmine, the email list.

(Boy! Do I wish I had 500 hits per day )
Other than that, it's pretty cools stuff.

    Thanks Dadadada
The way that the site works at the moment is that I do write about many things. Its a bit like a mini Huff Post but it's never sticking to one subject. For example, recently I have done articles on camping, paranormal, fishing, Canadian Heritage and Hopi Predictions. I tend to promote related books within that article and I have started adding a "Suggested Reading" section at the bottom of the article promoting Amazon books.

So basically the the product is relative to the post but the posts can be about anything and everything.

The reason i have so many hits is probably because the Blog has been running for the last five years and because I blog about so many different subjects.

It is amazing where the hits come from too, one of the most read subjects is anything to do with Hutterites.

You have sort of confirmed what I was thinking though and that is the blog is not specialized at all. I have decided to put together another site anyway that just deals with the Native Remedies.

By the way did you think that the page was slow loading?????

    Thanks for the input...
