What to check when purchasing a domain

I was having a think and what do you guys check when you are buying a domian?

I can only think of the following;
  • Page Rank (REAL)
  • Backlinks
  • Age
  • Indexed Pages??
  • Penalized for Links <-- not sure how to check

Anything else you guys check?

  • If the domain is penalized, it will likely not have any indexed pages. You can also check the wayback machine to see if the site ever had questionable content on it that may cause you problems in the future.

  • That's enough I think. It's time to buy the domain if you have analyze the domain and there's no problem.
  • You forgot the most important one:

    Price

    Always check for price... ...

    Too high, you are being ripped off. Too low, something fishy may be going on.
