Understanding SEO

Hi all,

I am learning SEO..So I have a basic question
lets assume,, I have a 2 month old website..

I hired someone to do offpage optimization (make backlinks)

Now website was able to rank on 1st page of Google for that keyword..

1) Will it keep dancing or will it stabilize
2) what will happen if I stop doing offpage SEO for that particular keyword and do backlinks for other keywords? Will the ranking drop? ((different keyword/internalURLs, same website))
3) What will happen if I stop OFFpage SEO completely no more backlink building?

  • See SEO is a continuous process, if stop working on building links so soon your ranking will down for sure but after some time when your traffic get stable then you don't have to make hard efforts on seo just keep posting good content will maintain your websites position.

  • Yes I am satisfied with sherinthomas. And one more thing first of all you should have proper knowledge of Search engine optimization. And only offpage work is not very effective. Its effective only if best onpage optimization performed on the website. Both onpage and offpage have their own importance.

      First thing, you need continue with your off page activity it's not main thing, but it's more important how can you build quality link building for your keyword. Because it's also depend on that which sites you get the link, this will decide the are you dancing or stabilize.

      Yes very good question...
      This might be also affect your website. Because you need to wait for a couple of month if your website are stable for month than no need to worry about that but you should to maintain (doing some off page activity) for that particular keyword.

      It's totally depend on how competitive keyword is ?? if your keyword competition level is high and it might be chances fall the ranking. so be careful for that.

    if he do it manually then you will see the stable result within 3 weeks. after starting you will see a massive change in the SERP but don't be so happy becasue that will not last for long

    • Understanding SEO is different thing apart from doing it ... Its an continues process.

      You will have to keep your website update with content and off page seo if you want to be stable in Competitive keywords.

      Everything depends on Competition.

      Your website will get good ranking and stability if you are able to keep your website stable with off page and onpage seo.
  • 1) We won't tell you. It might and might not. There are too many variables to take into consideration and Google is in most cases unpredictable.
    2) It may, but chances are, because you are still doing SEO for the website as such, the rankings may not drop.
    3) Again, we can't tell you for sure, your site may lose its rankings and it may not. It depends on the competitiveness of your keywords and many other factors.

    1. New sites & constant low quality links will make a page dance in the SERPs.
    2. My advice is focus on ranking multiple pages for the same [exact] keyword, helps stabilize SERPs, just keep in mind nothing is guaranteed with the SERPs.
    3. If you have quality links, eventually your site will start showing signs of authority for new related keywords, you'll know when it happens because the new keywords will usually start out 1/2 way decent in the SERPs. The trick is to tie new pages/keywords into the old already ranking relevant pages with internal links.
