Newbie commenting help needed

Can somebody please share how to find blogs and forums for commenting?

Also I am a bit confused on where to link. I mean somewhere I find people saying that now after the Panda and penguin updates, we must only get contextual backlinks.

On the other hand some say that we can post to any blog or forum irrespective of the niche. But the comment should not be spam.

Please tell me how the links should be built now in 2012?

  • Yes, you shouldn't SPAM. And contextual link has greater value always. Emphasize on On Page optimization first(Unique content that adds value to the reader, well structured site), then add Quality backlinks.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • Just find dofollow blogs, and start posting there,
remember that don't comments spammy words, always try to give good and attractive comments , this will also attract the user to see your website,
    • [1] reply
    • This will not work at all. Now a days, dofollow and nofollow hardly matters to google. Spamming is not allowed at all. Only dofollow links can penalizr you because it does not look natural at all.
      • [1] reply
  • Look, in the below portion of our comment, there is signature which contains an url. That is link, got that? Do not spamming means, do not write whatever you want to spread your links, but join in constructive discussion.
  • Here are a few footprints you can use to search for blogs to comment on. You can also add "your niche" to the footprints.

    BlogEngine:

    ìPowered by BlogEngineî
    Inurl:.edu ìPowered by BlogEngine.NET 1.4.5.0î
    Inurl:.gov ìîPowered by BlogEngine.NET 1.4.5.0î
    Inurl:.ac.uk ìPowered by BlogEngine.NET 1.4.5.0î

    BlogSpot:

    site:blogspot.com "Post a Comment"
site:blogspot.com "You can use some HTML tags, such as <b>, <i>, <a>"

    Joomla:

    Chronocomments by joomla professional solutions
    Powered by Phoca Guestbook
Powered by Jambook written by Olle Johansson from JX Development

    Wordpress:

Inurl:.edu ìpowered by wordpressî ìleave a commentî
    Inurl:.gov ìpowered by wordpressî
    Inurl:.ac.uk ìpowered by wordpressî

Make some positive comments, don't spam like hell. Make your posts as friendly as possible and leave your link somewhere, without forcing the people to click it.
  • I suggest that anyone who hasn't should check these vids out.

  • Nice thread mate. You raised a question of several minds'.

Back links... always a terrible word for inexperienced. But no need to worry on that as you are in a great land where webmasters and SEOs with lot of experience are living.

Hoping i'm one of them giving you my experience.

I will say yes if anyone ask "is there any need to follow some ethical ways in constructing back links." Not only in the matter of linking strategies, but every carving touch to your website/blog. I'm strongly suggesting, advising and ordering(sorry) to not to go out of your niche when you are commenting on blogs/websites. Matt cutts mentioned in his personal blog that relevancy and manual commenting is must otherwise please don't comment to get a punishment.

I think its not a big and hard task to comment on your niche relevant blogs. Just search with your meta keywords in Google and list out your competitors and supporters (who are below you). Filter out the best sites which holds good PR, content, back links and traffic. After getting the fine list for commenting, be updated with those sites, observe them, leave comments on their blogs with your knowledge about what they posted. This way will leads you not only quality and relevant back links but also keep you updated with what your competitors are. so you can easy understand your competitors hence easy to move up.

For forum links, i personally don't know much about forum linking strategies. I use forums to share and gain knowledge, if you are here for the same you too do the same but don't ever and ever break the rules. Use your signature to get links and try posting useful and updated things so everyone will support you. so people will follow your links to get what you are offering there. One more thing is don't use signature everywhere instead use only at the threads which are relevant to your signature.

Raise your question if i'm confusing you.

  • yeah you should only use this type of back linking as one among many methods. Too many of these will actually hurt your link juice to your site....so take it moderately.
    • [1] reply
    • yes there are lots of other methods one can use. I think slow and steady wins the race. It always has.

  • Use footprints like some of the ones mentioned above, install SEO Quake and set Google results to 100. Then you can look at the PR of the pages. Find ones with low out bound links and leave a good comment on them.

Scrapebox will help you find these faster and easier, the best method is to use Scrapebox to find the links and then manually comment on them. Of course finding platforms that cannot be posted to by Scrapebox is the real trick.
  • Too many dofollow links are going to be bad. The best thing to do is find some blogs your niche and start commenting.

Try the CommentLuv blogs, most of these are dofollow & mix them with some high PR sites, these will mostly be NoFollow. Besides, you are likely to get more traffic from a site like problogger.net than you would any other.

Try to make your commenting look as natural as possible. There is a program called Comment Kahuna that is free, but you have to opt in to a list...this will find CommentLuv, KeywordLuv, & a bunch of others.
  • One more thing, you should look for KeywordLuv enabled blogs, which are almost always DoFollow. If you don't need a large amount of posts you can do a simple search:

"keywords" + "this site uses keywordluv" + "powered by Wordpress"

  • I would mix in some legit guest posting. Getting contextual links will really push you over the top. It isn't as hard as people think. Use MyBlogGuest.com or PostRunner.com to find opportunities..
  • Blog comment site you find need to dofollow and relevant to keyword.
Specially, the commenting also need to relevant to topic.
If so, your blog commenting is very good.
    • [1] reply
    • I don't necessarily agree with this. I still see results, even if I'm commenting on non-niche related blogs. Niche related is good for potential traffic, though.

  • I think it's very good for backlink now if we can mix some services and also have a plan for some target services.
Google is very smart know and I think the most important thing is make backlink as natural as we can.
  • You can use Scrapbox to find list blog comment and forum posting.

    • Hahahaha. What are you doing here. Its not that type of forum come and past some link and went away. You even don't know BBcode.
  • To build backlink, at first try to write as much quality content as you can so that people like to share your content and link to it. I know you don't have much control over others. So you can post guest post on high authority blogs and comments on other related blogs and of course social sharing.

    Thanks.

  • When commenting, make sure you read the post first so that you may add valuable comment to the discussion. Do not blatantly promote your link nor add it to the comment. A URL field is provided in most commenting platform which automatically links to your name.

  • You should strive to obtain a wide variety of high quality backlinks, and use anchor text variation.
  • The thing is blog owners need content to their blog and they are looking for you to comment on their blogs too but your comment should be meaningful and helpful to the blog then you would get approved soon.

  • Look for relevant blogs to comment on by searching on Google/Bing for: "leave a comment" keyword

There are other variations you can use so just play around with it.

Leave a well thought out comment that responds to the post. You want to add to the conversation. Your link goes in the URL field. Whatever you put in the Name field gets hyperlinked. I always use my name or my company name. Reason being, it's more natural and you get your comment approved more.

Really what I'm going for are links from relevant content. I don't care about the anchor text. And now post Penguin, having generic anchor text in your link profile is a good thing.

    Good luck,
    ryan

  • Actually to find a blog to comment first you have to check that which type of site you are commenting for. Try to match the topics of those to sites. As example if you have a site about webmaster topics and you want to do blog commenting for that site you should find an existing high page ranked webmaster blog.

    • I comment on plenty of non-niche related blogs if I'm just trying to create backlinks.

For traffic? Sure. Niche-related blogs are definitely an overlooked source.
  • 1. Commenting is NOT for google.
Comments are all NOFOLLOW (in any decent blog platform)

    2. DOFOLLOW blogs are crap.
    They make little Google difference

    3. Comment with valuable stuff so the
    - OP might actually edit his post and quote you and link to you
    - Readers will go, "WHOA, This guys is the bomb. I'm going to link to his site."
    - ummm...

    4. see link in my signature... it goes into detail

    5. do what I did in #4.
Create a valuable list then do a "cliff hanger" on an odd number. People hate dangling sets so they will click your link.
AND... if the mods like to delete posts with links... if your previous points are valuable... they will hesitate and keep your comment alive!

  • I agree you should be using footprints for these and in addition to that, it's useful if you also install a firefox plugin to help you select the links for your site. A good plugin would be SEO Quake.
  • You just need to put your keyword in Google search box..

Google allows you to search in Discussion, blog, videos, images etc.

Are you able to see this function?

put any keyword, hit search button then you would get option

    Web - Images - Maps - Shopping - News - More - Search Tools

Click on "More" and select Discussions or Blogs...
