twitter do you just follow people? google+ similar public feature?

Hello iv only just started using twitter i dont believe in what it represents and i personally think its dumb and stupid but anyway.......i guess it good to get traffic because alot of dumb people use it, do you basically just follow people and they follow you back?
Then you disguise a advertisement in a tweet?

Iv basically followed 1k of random people who have been following one of my competition is this correct? is it that easy?

google + you can make stuff public and it is best to get traffic from anywhere? are their any functions like this on twitter or any other similiar website?

    If you want to do it that way, yes but you don't do it manually there are services that will autofollow people and drop the ones who don't follow you back.

    You do have to tweet things, aside from the shit you are trying to promote or you won't keep those followers for long

    I don't know what your problem with Twitter is. There are "dumb people" in higher proportions on the other social sites. i can hear braincells screaming in pain every time I visit Facebook. Pinterest is about the same.

    If you want to actually use the service there is actually some really interesting people on Twitter sharing good stuff. Especially if you are interested in IM, seo, business, design, those sorts of things.

    Are you sure, you are not jocking? That is not such an easy game man. You can get lots of followers in short time, but do you believe, you can direct them to your web site and can get good conversion rate? Making big number of followers is not the point. Lots of people can do so. But only few can make money from there. I believe you are clear.
