Hello, I'm not sure what I'm asking here. But I heard you can use Yahoo Answers to direct traffic to your website and blogs.

I'm just wondering is there a good strategy for this and does anyone get results from doing this.

Would appreciate if you could share with me.
PM or reply here.

Thanks.

  • For pure SEO benefits I doubt it - Although im not 100% sure here

As for making a sale or whatever your goal is then yes, yahoo answers is amazing for targeted traffic and you should always spend some time answering queries related to your niche so you can drop in that source URL and get the traffic

  • So does google see these links your leaving in answers to peoples questions as good related links.

    It's almost like blog commenting.

    • Yes Google will like these links, BUT

After getting a few they lose any value
You can't leave anchor text based links just the raw URL (which is handy anyway now)
Your links dont become live and clickable until you hit level 2

What Yahoo Answer is good for though is driving traffic to your site by answering relevant questions and is a great way to get a site off the ground in it's early stages.
  • so after getting a few you say they are worthless.

So what you do then, put 10 links on and leave it
  • Can I do both, or do I have to choose one method.

What about two Google answer accounts?
    • [1] reply
    • Google answer has closed.

Anyway yahoo answer can be good for both - targeted traffic to website and SEO value. Although the backlinks from yahoo answer comes with Nofollow attribute, still it helps to diversify your website backlink profile. And that's why Yahoo answer should be an integral part of your SEO activity.
  • For linking building i don't think it's a goood idea..you can get better links using other tactics like guesting posting, commenting on high pr blogs, forums, etc.
As for driving traffic, yes, you can get very targeted traffic from yahoo answers. what i do is use those questions to create blog posts. This way i create content that people are actually in need of
  • Use yahoo answers as a way to demonstrate knowledge, build rep and traffic - a marketing tool not SEO.
  • I do this to resolved questions, I just add comments since I can't add answers. I started doing it like 3 days ago though. I came across the idea in an adsense PDF. It's not a bad idea and my traffic did rise a bit.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks

    • What a great idea. Thank you...since I don't know how to click on thank you
  • thanks everyone, great tips. I actually meant to say yahoo answers on my last post regarding two accounts lol.
  • They are nofollow but are still useful. It's good mix up your backlinks. YA also [can] bring traffic.... which is part of the goal, right?
  • Yahoo Answers can be useful in improving search engine ranking but its not going to make a significant difference on a non-performing site.
  • Yes, but mix Yahoo Answers with some comments on relative blogs and do that 10 times. I think you'd see some adsense $$.
  • I've experimented with this and it seems that yahoo answers has no effect on SERP
  • Yup..

I have seen many pages and I know many people who uses yahoo answers to build links for seo and traffic. But you need account of level 2+ to add links I guess.

if you want one unique way to build links with this. PM me.
  • KingPop is right, you have number of points to go to level 2. Meaning you need to answer some yahoo questions before getting that level.
  • I'm already on level 2. thanks or the suggestions again.
  • For quick targeted traffic this is my (now not so!) secret method - depending on how well you answer the questions you can have some great success - I use this method for my CPA offers.

For even more targeted results if you have not already done so you should set up notifications so that any questions asked in your niche get sent to you immediately.

Yahoo answers is also good for the search engines (short term) as depending on the topic the question/answer will show up super quick on google page 1.

    Regards
    Khemba
  • Yeah a lot of people use this strategy but its not really great for long-term SEO in my opinion.
  • Getting targeted traffic seems to be the best that yahoo answers can offer.
  • The key is to ensuring that the answers are genuine, and that your link is relevant to the question being asked! Don't get spammy! Throw in some answers w/o your link as well so that you're not viewed as a user solely attempting to advertise. This will make you come off as a more valuable source of information, and probably prevent a ban as well. KEEP IT RELEVANT!

I'm no SEO expert, but it couldn't hurt! Also, Yahoo Answers questions are ranked high in google - and therefore you can definitely get some nice targeted traffic through this method. Consider outsourcing this job to someone else as well. Maybe somebody on WF would be willing to do this for you! Don't spend too much time on it.

    Best of luck,
    Jon.
  • Really good advice here, really appreciate it. It's got me thinking on a plan.
Tell me if this is a good idea.

In my niche there are thousands of forums and blogs that are available to post reply's on where I can answer questions in detail. Throughout these forums and blogs I can leave a detailed answer and vary my links going to my pages on my money site. Vary the anchor text and use the domain and completely make it different each time.

I have a blog set up that relates to my niche and I can use it for tips and tricks and comparing products. I can also get ideas for posts to put on the blog through questions asked all over the internet and then link to my answers again using varied anchor text. But in my blog posts I'm linking to product reviews through keywords in the blogs posts. So my blog will act as a blog does in a link wheel.

Then you have yahoo answers to get targeted traffic through varied anchor text and so on. I see what people mean by not linking out every question. Look as if I'm genuine.

Do this every day for 2 hours or more and keep putting content on the blog and the money site.

I think this is a nice recipe for good ranking and link juice.
    Thoughts?

    • Yahoo Answers is a good source of backlinks and traffic. Posting useful answers that are related to your niche can help you establish your online reputation, build credibility, and drive more traffic to your site.
    • Its a great idea. And if you can execute the plan you will definitely succeed. But on Y!A you can not have Anchor text, so there is no question of anchor text variation. Although you can always diversify the URL with Y!A (Some times Homepage, blogs, blog posts etc)

I guess you got the idea
  • Not sure how well it works but I'm trying it.
  • So far Yahoo answers have been virtually useless for me in terms of backlinks and revenue. I know the links are nofollow but Google webmaster tools does not recognize them at all. Also, the traffic that I get from Yahoo Answers is terrible in that my business is focused on the US and all of the traffic is from outside the US. The only thing I get is a few extra clicks. I am going to try commenting on a few resolved answers and see what happens. I will look for resolved answers that rank high on my keywords

without any doubt Yahoo answer is effective but its kind of tough to get accepted with the links in the answer or question. SO you have to make a very reputed account to run this campaigning.
  • Some SEO experts think NOfollow is almost waste and useless. But in reality Nofollow backlinks too have some value.. First traffic brought back from any part is valuable for traffic is a major factor for Page Rank which in turn is major factor in SEO ranking, Furthermore Even no follow links gets value when 2 sites have every factors (like DOfollow backlinks and other SEO factors) then Search Engines will start to consider Nofollow as a factor to decide rankings.

Once simple fact will remain true forever "Potential(related) traffic from any source is valuable and are helpful in Search Engine Optimization.
  • Your live links should be relevant on the topic your answering to.
  • Answering links are trustable links. Thing is that don't hit your website or promote through answering sites. Participate in related discussion which is same to your website niche. After that give a link or post URL to your website. 4-5 Answering links in a month is enough for your website but relevancy is must needed.
  • Everything that should be said has been said about yahoo answers. I recommend it for another source of link building
