What is easier: local or organic seo?

The title says it all. Is it easier to rank a site for organic search results or for local (google maps) resutls?

Also, I see many services on the forum offering organic search seo, but what about local? where does one go to get help for local seo?

    It depends on the domain name, search volume and competition.

    Plus, they are kind of the same thing.

    Buy a decent, local domain, try and use your keywords, then get a Google Maps listings.

    Gentle links to both, link to the maps page from your own site.

    In not too long you'll make the front page for the keyword.

    Branding a company and don't want to use an "SEO" style domain, or can't afford a great one? Then do the above, but link it to your brand page in the footer, make it do follow and no other links from the site.

    More gentle linking to your brand page, quality not quantity.

    10 links not 10,000

    It'll take a little longer, but the branded domain will take the place of the "SEO" domain and you'll perhaps manage 2 maps listings if you are clever with the address....
