IN 20-30 MINUTES You Can Increase Your Google Traffic by 37% with This One Simple Trick!

The last few Google updates have been devastating for a lot of warriors, so I thought I'd chime in to rapidly increase your existing traffic.

This one little trick only takes about 20-30 minutes to implement, and can have a HUGE impact on your incoming visitors.

What is this one simple trick? .... wait for it..... It's signing up for a Google Authorship account.

.... Hold the phone.

Google is trying to eliminate SEO and manipulating search engine results. Why the heck would they offer a service that increases your rankings????

Well, signing up to the Google Authorship program doesn't increase your rankings at all. Or maybe it does a little. It's too early for me to tell. But so far, my rankings have remained the same.

The huge advantage of Google Authorship is the profile picture that is placed beside each of your blog posts.

How much impact can one little picture have???

Take a look at the image below. Which result are you most drawn towards??

The result with the picture is effectively stealing traffic from results that are ranked above it. Even if your result isn't the most relevant, or the biggest authority, you will attract visitors with a picture. It's a simple marketing tactic that's used on webpages all the time. Put pictures next to ads, and you will attract more clicks. Google bans this kind of behaviour in the Adsense program, but completely encourages it with Google Authorship.

Now imagine that you are entitled to have that picture placed beside each search result for every blog post on your website.

Even if you're rankings remain the same, you can pick up a ton of additional traffic. For example, if you're ranked #3 for your targeted keyword, it's now possible for you to pick up a bunch of traffic that normally would have clicked the first result. But the first result was boring, and you have a picture.

It's not really a question of substance. Because the picture isn't really about adding value to the searcher. But it does allow YOU to STAND OUT in the search listings.

So what does it take to get this magnificent boost in search engine traffic??

.... About 20 minutes of your time. All you need to do is register for a google Authorship account, and then in about 2 weeks your beautiful face will be shown beside your listing(s) in Google.

Here's a link to a tutorial on how to set up Google Authorship.

Good luck folks! I hope this tip brings you a ton of extra traffic

Or just rank the first 2-3 SERP positions with 2-3 pages targeting the same keyword.

Great tip! It really helps gain trust with visitors because it puts a face with a site.

Good point sir. Another bonus would be the trust increase from showing the face of the author. Statistics show that visitors are considerably more trusting when they see a friendly face attached to a product. Thanks for reminding me

I thought the picture in search results was from having a Google plus account set up, is this the same thing. I have had G + set up for about 6 months now and linked to a certain website.

We I do a rich snippets test my profile pic shows up, but under that it also says ( Note that there is no guarantee that a Rich Snippet will be shown for this page on actual search results.)

It would be awesome if it would show up because nobody else at the top has a pic either, I'm already at the top for my keywords but I'm sure my traffic would increase significantly.

Does anyone know a sure fire way to do it ? Is this Google Authorship account your talking about a guarantee that this will happen ?

Good to know. I'm relatively new to Google Authorship, so you'd have to have this confirmed from someone else. But from what I've heard, it takes a couple weeks from sign up to start including the author pic in your search results.

My advice would be to all warriors would be to sign up for authorship immediately. You have nothing to lose, and a TON you could gain. If Google doesn't show your picture ever, then maybe you need to build your Google+ brand a little so that it's in their best interest to do so.

AFAIK it can be used for any kind of creative content. All you need is a correctly configured G+ profile, and email address at the domain hosting the content, and the name of the G+ profile contained in the text of the page.

How do i get picture to display with my inner pages? In last few weeks, i was able to setup google authorship with my sites, but for all the 3 sites, the pic shows up only for main domain and not with internal pages.

You just need the exact author name on every page where you want it to show up.

Also, remember that only one authorship rich snippet will appear per site on any given SERP.

So, for example, if you do a search for site:domain.tld then only the top result for domain.tld will have the authorship picture, even though the other pages would show an authorship picture if they were the only page from your site on the SERP

you will never see a long list of sites all with authorship snippets on the same SERP

I have implemented this about two months ago. I'm in a niche where nobody uses it. I used a picture of my wife that takes right to the audience.

My traffic did improve a little bit, but Google Webmaster tools shows a decrease in CTR. So it leaves me scratching my head?

Great tip that everyone should be taking advantage of and I do on my site

As an extra tip you should also be looking to integrate microformats into your sites, especially if you do any kind of reviews so you can get the little stars showing up as well, awww they pretty!

Is it possible to have the authorship snippet and review snippet display simultaneously? From all of my testing, you can display the stars or the author picture but not both at the same time. From my testing, author picture takes precedence over stars, so that if you have both stars and picture, only picture will display. I had many pages that displayed with stars; I added authorship and now they only display with pictures, even though all the star information is still there on the pages.

Have you found a way of getting both to display?

Yes you can get both to display BUT it displays in a different format.

It looks exactly the same as just with the stars, but underneath the meta description it has a much smaller 24x24px picutre and on the same line it says something along the lines of

        'By <author name> in X Google Circles - More by <author name>'

You don't by any chance have an example of a search query that gives a result that looks like this, do you?

Also, how do you get google to do this? When I use the rich snippet testing tool for some of my pages, both the ranking data and the authorship picture appear, but I've never seen this happen in an actual SERP. Only the picture ever appears (unless I remove the authorship info, in which case only the rating appears)

I ve been using rel=author with great success. There is an incline in traffic stats without any ranking increase. You must however be on the first page of course

If you do not wish to have a plugin/widget that does the authorship and you wish to do it by hand (one time setup that needs no updates/maintainance etc.) I wrote a post about ->

    Hope this helps.

      Great post dude,

I'm glad to see that others are experiencing good results from Google Authorship. The extra traffic is awesome, but the main advantage of this tip is the extra trust you build with cold traffic. It looks like your post is from a reputable source. And of course, with your website, it is. The picture simply reinforces a sense of authority for your website.

CNET also adopts this strategy by including author pictures in their google listings. I'm a sucker for the psychology involved, and am a lot more inclined to view CNET over other sources.

The 37% increase is not a guarantee by any means. The title doesn't say your traffic WILL increase by that amount, it says it "could" increase that much. My main site's got a spike in traffic by that much, but results may vary.

However, it's unlikely to have a negative impact on your site, and only takes a matter of minutes to implement. This tip is really a no brainer.
