Hello I am on the fence about buy a big link blast from someone for a great price he seems to have ranked a lot of sites first page this way!! But then others tell me my site will be blacklisted by google!! His argument is that if that were true then he would just link blast all his competitors and get them penalized ?? What are your thoughts I really want to start driving traffic to my new forum?

I don't think a blast to a forum would help, just yet. Wait till you have thousands of posts and then do a huge blast.

For now, try writing articles targeting your forums keywords and include a link. That's 1 more backlink and a link for people to click on to sign up!

But I mean to get new users to join to get thousands of posts there needs to be some sort of marketing??

Blasting is more of search engine focus, which isn't all that good for a start. I think you should employ other marketing methods and do the link blast last.

Sounds like a bull shit artist

Ask him to put his money where his mouth is and show you sites he has ranked like that and then check out the backlink profile for yourself to see if it matches up with what he is offering.

You should hold off on the blast until you have built up alot of content on your site. You have to go for longtail keywords at the start, ones that are only getting <100 searches a month to build a base.

Blasts can still provide pretty strong short-term results. (Quickly ranking a page / site.) But there's a good chance you're going to run into trouble (slapped) in the long-term unless you're REALLY diversifying your backlinks. So keep that in mind.

It all depends on the type of links you're buying, the condition of the site you're promoting, and the risks associated with the new links not providing the SERP movements you're looking for.
