Pick a keyword with about 50,000 searches per month and have people signup to build a site around it and track the SERP results. All entries would have to reveal their domain so we could track the results. This would be great for those selling SEO services because we could see which one is ranking better but we could also analyze what techniques work best.

    They already do a competition like that on Wicked Fire.

    It also wouldn't really tell you much about how good or bad an SEO really is. I would never use my best link sources in a public competition like that, and I doubt any other SEO would want to either.
