EMD Availability Question

I found a new keyword I would like to rank for but the keyword does not have an EMD available. However, the non-plural version of the keyword is available as a .org EMD. For ranking purposes is it better to use the non-plural version EMD or just use the exact keyword in my domain?

  I think EMD does still matter - SEO MOZ showed that URLs with EMD, those URLs were able to use much more exact match anchor text for backlinking without penalty from Google.

plural should be fine i own some that have that

I'm using phrase match domains more often now,

eg- for 'blue widget' I would buy 'happybluewidget.com' or 'bluewidgetblues.com' etc
