SEO, Or not!? How to get a page to the top without any content

I have had a client for years now, recently rebuilt their website which they are happy with. We keep updating it from time to time, but that is not the problem! Client has recently started asking me, why the website is not top ranking when they type in certain keywords. There is no real content on the site, besides a brief intro to what the company is and a portfolio there is no written traffic. I bought a similar domain, added the same website and was thinking of trying to make it an Authority on the industry and just transfer the traffic, but I am not sure that will work? Quick way to get it top ranked without any written content?

    SimTech,

I understand that you're asking for a way on how to get on top of the first page of Google without any content on your site. However, I don't think it's possible. Perhaps, I just misunderstood what you're trying to do or something?

I don't know what is the point to rank the site to the top position without having any content on it ? it's just worthless, in the term of conversion rate it's totally pointless such a page won't convert at all, second thing the bounce rate would be to high as soon as the visitor visit the page they would hit back button as there is nothing on it to grab their attention, third thing your ranking wouldn't last long specially for some competitive term and if this is the case your ranking boost would be much harder to do to rank site without any or very little content on it, specially after all those algorithm changes and updates to fight the spam it's hard to rank site with no content, for some very tiny and not competitive kw yes but we all want to rank sites for the conversion rate purpose...

I can't image this is so tough. He talks about 'quality' and 'certified installers'. You need to elaborate on the USP. He has a great client base...what does everyone think of do a LIVE Q & A...so you can get your prospects involved?

That is pretty much what I am saying. The website is Stonescapes.org, its a hardscaping company that does truly beautiful work. He wants people to be able to type in Destin Hardscaping and it to pop up. Along with many many other cities they work in. I have explained to him that he has no content, that we need written content to make that happen. Which I am not truly sure what needs to be done. He does work in Mississippi, Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, would anyone be willing to tell me what needs to be done in order to create this environment? Videos? Articles ? =/

The main target is someone looking specifically for the work done in their area, I don't think a bounce rate is the problem, just getting to the front page? Or at least the second!?

I take a look up the site and those such a type of sites are not much Google friendly anyway I would recommend to add at least 700-800 word content below images where is said - Welcome to Stonescapes - at least it would help the ranking a bit...

If I were you, i'd remove my clients link from this forum mate.

And he doesn't need more content, he needs a new landing page. A few backlinks wouldn't hurt either.

That's a nice little site (clean slate).

It doesn't take articles to rank pages (ugh...).

You need to make some minor tweaks to the existing pages (only 7 pages), example, this page failed on image alt-text. Leave the existing photo gallery intact & create a new webpage for each existing photo gallery image, add a link on the existing photo gallery page pointing at each new full size image page.

On the new full size image webpages keep it very simple, keyword in the <title>, single <h1> tag, & mentioned once as plain text. Single keyword anchor-text link pointing back to whatever page your trying to rank. Keep the 3 existing photo galleries completely separate & focused on each individual main keyword.

Optimize the new image pages with simple descriptions, maybe a sentence or two of text. That alone will give you 68 new pages (image pages/links) each optimized for whatever specific keyword/GEO location you need, repeat for the other two photo galleries If needed (more relevant internal links).

You could easily boost that 7 page site to 200+ pages with very little work & no articles.

I didn't check the link profile.

most of the sites are on the top of the google rankings just because of their content.
There are currently 200 things that google follow while ranking the sites.

Google Is too strict nowadays, so we must follow the current trends and routines that would really be helpful, while majority of claims by Matt Cutts and other people state that if site's on page is not correct, and there is no content in the site..

how would the spider ever know what the site is all about before displaying search engine results.

Top ranks is really all about the amount of backlinks with your main keyword in the anchor text, that is all. Content is secondary.

SEO is always the best way to boost a website, but without content, it's almost impossible to reach Top 10! Unless the keyword has small competition!

i know some of the circumstances where "Title Tag" is killer text that describes some kind of social bookmarking list or top 10 companies, and Content is an image having alt text and no content at all, still the pages comes on the first place of google search results, even if they have no infomation that they were supplying.

Fact is that without content and only Image :
Google recognize this as Infographic or some additional data that is provided on the page as an Image. Thus give priority if there are some backlinks also pointing the the page. It is a relevant and useful technique if you have no content.

" Put killer title text and an Alt tag optimized Image" That's it.

Think from Google's perspective! Why Google should promote a page on top if it doesn't offer anything? Would you spend your money to advertise an empty store? I don't think so!

If you want to be on top, you have to think the way Google thinks. Visitor experience first!
