SEO or Content first?

Obviously you need to have some content; but after a few posts, do you focus on SEO; or do should you have a lot of content first?

I need to know whether to make more posts or focus on SEO. Which is more important? I have, maybe 30 posts right now; about one (hopefully) good post a day for a month. SEO time?

If you have a very good content, you can even forget about SEO.. Some people can actually rank their websites even without a single backlink. It's all about quality content and proper formatting. If you have a great content, people will visit all your pages and will return to your site. Google will acknowledge such activities and will give your site more value...

Google is like human. If your visitors love your site, Google will love it too..

Obviously you need to get the content right first, but in the sense of conversions. 30 posts is great, in fact more than enough. Make sure you split them into categories if you're usng wordpress, and use internal link to signal that the posts belong together.

Internal linking is very important, don't overlook it and don't use YARP or anyother plugin that just throws links at the end of the content. Make it contextual.

Work on your SEO, and add new content regularly if you're making an authority site. Just one post per week will keep "freshness" on the site.

If that's true, why are you backlinking "how to get pregnant" on the Warrior Forum?

Guess what, if you don't have GA, adsense, or rankings (traffic stats from SERPs) then how exactly will Google know about "such activities?". Unless of course every visitor is logged into Google, or using Chrome. That's a lot of ifs. I'll stick to building links, I think!

This is SO TRUE. And is the reason why I've completely laid of SEO all together. It's really all about providing a TON of exceptional, valuable content that people will rave over and go and spread it across cyberspace for you. If your content get's enough buzz from the socialization of humans, then Google really has no choice but to give you your props

    Content, then seo.

Content is the backbone of your SEO system. It would be like running ads for a site not built yet. However you can do some things that take time like getting index etc... To get the ball rolling.

Content is more vital than SEO....I have had plenty of micro niche blogs that will easily get tons of results just because of the tags in various articles I had written. If you are in a more competitive niche (like furniture) then SEO can be just as important as content if you are not doing any promoting; which you should be doing.

Build a good content first, then optimize your content... Do SEO and update your site of good quality links at least 1-2times a week. This way your readers can catch up with your new contents.

  • Based on my experience, let the recent content settle for some time and let it get indexed naturally, don't do aggressive link building just yet.. also don't over-optimize your articles. go for 1% keyword density or less as to the recent Google Update, they are closely watching for some sites that are obviously aggressive on their ranking campaigns..

Use social qualifiers as anchor text like "check them out, see the article here" etc. when building links so that It will appear natural to Google.

    Hope it helps.

    Cheers,
    Al

I generally do my pages like this:
Content: Then let google index it and see how the SERP handles it
Content: I can never seem to get the page perfect the first time around, will tweak a few things I see that can improve the SERP. Might even need a 301 if I need to change the address name to better suit it.
If there isn't much competition I can generally get to within page 3 in about a 4 to 6 weeks.

The reason I do this is because from my brief experience I can get a better handle on what people are searching for through the logs and can tweak the page to be more of what users are looking for. I will also then write 1 or 2 supporting pages and link them in the main article, this I find helps get my bounce rate pretty low.

Everyone says content is important, i too support that. Really "CONTENT IS KING" at any given time. But there is need with SEO up to some extent because in order to overcome the competition in online market place, SEO will serve as an sword in king's hand.

My short and sweet answer to this thread is: the perfect combination of quality and unique content with ethical white hat SEO can give you SERP's crown position thus more traffic, so more conversions and finally happy dollars for your effort.

I think anyone who wants a future online needs to focus more on good content than on good SEO.

Having said that, whoever said the two were mutually exclusive?

Why can't you have good content and good SEO?

The reason we're even having this debate is because a lot of people (not you obviously ) are looking for the shortcut.

There will always be spammers, scammers and other devious monsters on the Internet. The problem is that techniques such as spinning and scraping have become so widespread. Yes, even recognized as respectable methods in some circles.

I know there are people who are bound to disagree, but I don't like spinning and scraping. I believe it is a vile method devised only to take advantage of flaws in the search engines.

But isn't SEO about taking advantage of flaws in the search engines?

Well, I don't believe it is. SEO is about making sure that your content is displayed as prominently as possible in the search engines, not by taking advantage of the flaws in their algorithms, but by working with the search enignes. (Ok, I admit that is a bit naive!)

Thankfully, search enignes such as Google are now doing what they can to plug the holes in their algorithm.

Google, as an example, have one thing in mind - profit!

For them to achieve that they have to take care of their primary asset. Searchers.

These days they are under a huge amount of pressure by the likes of FaceBook, Twitter and Amazon. So, they have to provide a better service. The only way they can do that is to ensure that searchers find the content they are looking for on their first attempt.

So, if you want your page to be displayed on page one you need to do good by Google. The advantage is that doing that is also a good long term strategy.

Todays good content should still be pretty solid tomorrow. And if that is what you provide I believe you'll be fine in the long run.

As you may have guessed my vote goes to content

Content is part of SEO as it is an ON-PAGE SEO. You have to build first a very good content, make people hooked on it. The second thing is the interface or design of your web page. The last thing you will do is to do the OFF-PAGE SEO which is link building and submissions. Content is one of the killers on the web.

SEO is the process which you need to do continuously. Keep posting unique content on your website and promote that page by using seo services. Though, Content is must and need to have on first, SEO also needed at the same time for effective result. But, keep in mind that Posting unique content is also included in SEO. When it comes on-page and off-page SEO, writing unique and quality content is one of the methods in on-page SEO. I hope you got what i am trying to say.

A post per day is enough for quality on-page SEO because regular update in your site makes users expect something daily and maintaining unique visitors. Time for SEO is not measured and whenever you are free, try to build back links for your site but you should keep a good link velocity.

This is enough for your site for gradual promotion in SERP.
