Backlinks on "rel=nofollow" forums

Hi,

I have seen many people building links by posting in the comments section of big forums. As we all know that most of these forums do have 'rel="nofollow"' attached to them.

So, is there any point in posting comments to these forums. Though, you are creating backlinks, but do search engine like Google even consider them? Your number of link count might be increasing but I guess those backlinks won't be counted when you check the actual backlinks that point to your site/blog.

As far as I think, posting on the forums which do not have any "rel=nofollow" attribute has far more benefits rather than on those forums.

Any idea?

Thanks

"rel=nofollow" links have no impact and are interpreted as HTML text.It is not counted in links of the link graph of the web at all.Different search engines treat it differently.

In order to climb the ranks in google, you definetley need also nofollow links...they don't pass link juice but they are A MUST if you want to climb the search engine positions.

Now days you must diversify everything.

Agreed. But, Is there any way to figure out whether a particular forum follows "dofollow" or "nofollow" tags. One way is to go to page source any search for the tags. Is there any other quick and simple way to figure it out.

I won't say that taking nofollow links from forums is a waste of time.
Its because Google may use them to crawl your website. Moreover it makes your website looks natural..
As forums are crawled at a very frequent rate, so its many a times beneficial to have a link from those of your niche.
