Can anyone recommend a good way to track adwords conversions for a service business? I don't sell products, per se, but I'd like to find a way to see if my adwords campaign has produced new clients.

Thanks.

Have people request a demo or a quote of your services by filling out a form on your site. Keep it to as little fields as possible to maximize conversions.

    Name
    Email
    Phone
What is your most burning question about XYZ service.
Once they respond take them to a sales page that brands you in their minds.

On that page you place your conversion code.

Make sure you send your PPC traffic to a compelling landing page and not your home page, you want to capture their attention and get their info.

If it's appropriate for your industry use an exit pop up so if they leave say,

"Wait Before you go sign up for my news letter and learn the 5 most critical things you must know before getting XYZ Service?

I believe you can use google analytics to track those conversions as well.

Thank you for your reply. I actually already have a contact form on the site -- I guess I didn't ask the question correctly.

    How to I differentiate between:

    a) the user who went to my "servicePage 2" via organic search, and then to my contact form and then sent me a contact email.

    vs

    b) the user who went to my "servicePage 2" via an adwords ad, and then to my contact form and then sent me a contact email.

E.g. If I get 10 emails from my contact form, how can I tell the organic vs. the adwords emails?

      Hi BeckM2,

All you need to do is add the AdWords conversion tracking code to the page that your form submits to.

Make sure you put it in the same section that renders your "Message Sent Successfully" because it's Javascript and has to be rendered in your clients browser to work correctly.

      HTH,
