How important is your Alexa rank?

I was wondering if anyone knows how important your Alexa rank is and if it affects your website overall in general?

I think it plays an important role, since some sites probably use the data from Alexa to rank your site.

I only use data from Alexa.
But i'm not very interested on high ranking in Alexa.
I just focus on Google.

Alexa is like an ex wife.. it won't go away and could careless what it thinks.

  It is one measure, but far from accurate. If the users on your site are Alexa loyalists, your Alexa rank will go through the roof, even when other sites with more traffic trail far behind. I have sites that are like that. The one with more alexa users and gets about 20% of the traffic of the others is ranked significantly higher than my other sites. Go figure.

As someone who's been selling products and services, as well as advertising on content sites, online for over a decade... Alexa means nothing. Nobody but other webmasters cares about it. Nobody will decide not to buy something from you because of your rank. Nobody will decide not to buy ads from you because of your rank. No search engine ranks your site higher or lower based on Alexa data.

Alex rank is very important for a website.If Alexa rank is low then its good for the website.The low Alexa rank just shows that traffic is coming to the site.

I have never paid attention to it and haven't heard any compelling reasons it is a worthwhile metric to actively track.

It's a useful baseline for comparing sites in the same niche (since sites in the same niche tend to have a similar percentage of their users who use the Alexa toolbar).

Actually Alexa ranking does not put any effect in search results. It is helpful for the Internet Marketers to measure weather the site is getting traffic or not. Nothing great for general users.
