FB ads tough as nails to crack?

Has anyone had any luck with FB ads? Granted I haven't done a ton of testing, but it seems really hard. I do like being able to narrow down the type of people that will see my ad, but my click through rate is always dissapointing.

I feel like I might just stick with solo ads and email ads. Has anyone had any luck? I wonder if FB users have just gotten use to ignoring them at this point, or maybe it's just me.

The problem with FB ads IMO is most everyone on facebook aren't looking for anything at all. It is simply a place to keep up with friends/kill time. Whereas when searching on a SE you always have a main objective.... I haven't had any luck at all using FB ads but there are probably some people on here that have had success.

Yes I lost quite a bit of money trying to crack the FB code. That has been several years ago but I have sworn to stay away from that. Expensive lesson for me! I'd would rather spend that money on SEO and other ways that will continue to bring traffic. But if you can find the secret recipe then you are practically trading dimes for quarters. Good luck!

I tried fb ads in the past, could never make any sales. It's tough but not impossible.

i have tested a few things with fb ads and although there is a lot of traffic there you have to approach fb ads in a completely different way than other traffic methods because its social traffic

it can work but it does take a lot more testing and patients

i have found solo ads and ppc to be the easiest and fastest ways to generate traffic but of course make sure your sending your traffic to your landing/squeeze page

One thing you might try, depending on what you are trying to achieve, is to have the ad lead people to like a FB page or join a group.
More interaction and trust can be built then.
If I'm not mistaken, I also think these type of ads are cheaper than those that lead people off FB. I may be wrong about this last point though.

Yeah, I've tried doing both.. but I think you are right. FB ads are probably more useful for getting people to like your page.

Maybe I'll try again and go from that direction and re-think it a bit.

You know what's funny. I've had more success using the free Market listing app on FB. lol. I've had a few signups from that. Can't believe more people don't try that.

The best method is to get them to like your fan page. This will build real life followers and likes.

It's 'hard to crack' because they don't allow easily converting spammy/fake offers. That's why so many people are complaining.

I couldn't ask for better conversion rates, really. Facebook ads work great for me.

Use the free iframe app to add a squeeze page to your fanpage and send traffic to that squeeze page.

I agree with half of what you are saying, the last half..

as for the first. just because some people don't have any success with facebook ads that doesn't mean others aren't. Theyre brilliant and so time-friendly once you get it right.

Facebook is the future of list building (looks around on the faces of all the dinosaurs that think email marketing is going anywhere) IF you cant find a way to incorporate a successful facebook page into your business model than you will be over-run by the people that can.

I think you are right to think of fb as another email list in a lot of ways (though one you shouldn't market too heavy on). I've made about $1,000 tracked through my facebook page over the summer.

I'm starting to run ads to get more likes for my page because of it. In my ad I'm taking a position on a market and asking folks to "like it" if they agree. I'm hoping this approach works better than what I've been doing.

OP, you are doing a few things wrong... in fact, everyone who is complaining is doing something wrong. Like someone mentioned, the way you approach Facebook traffic is not the same way you approach Google PPC traffic.

Tell me, what is the niche you are targeting?
