So I have heard a lot about spam links these days. I would like to know what a spam link is in your opinion. Is it a link on articles, directories, social bookmarking, and other such places?

What makes a link low quality? What makes a link high quality?

It's not only that. Links can be completely relevant to the content and content it's directing traffic to. The aspect of Penguin that dinged such sites as these is the unnatural occurance of the exact same keyword/ keyword phrase across tens of thousands of websites demonstrating an unnatural link building campaign. This was contrary to Google's desires of web traffic backlinking in a variety of different ways from entire URL to a variety of different backlinks. An example of some sites that got dinged were sites that created blog themes with the exact same backlink on every template.

I find Forum Profile links to be spammy and something that you should NEVER use for any of your sites.. they'll hurt your site in the long run.
