The difference is blurred but blackhat in its broadest sense is often defined as automated link building. For the purpose of SEO this is the most common use of the term. Spamming can be any unsolicited message or post purely for the poster receiving a benefit from it. This can be Wordpress comment spamming, forum spamming and even mass sending of unsolicited and no-optin emails. The terms are broad and are interlinked.

Imagine you love a topic so much that you create messageboard for others to be a part of so they can all share information on the topic and possibly making friends in the process. But soon after you created your board, you find that there are thousands of fake accounts all linking to shitty products and you can't keep up maintaining the board because it's now taking too much of your time on maintenance issues and deleting fake accounts and fake posts. This all prevents real users from wanting anything to do with your mesage board so they all leave.

Congratulations! You are about to do that to somebody!

Spamming is itself a black hat technique in SEO.It is done to increase the ranking fast but the end result is either the slap from Google or huge downfall in rankings.

Black Hat is a part of SEO (as a definition) used by those who are looking for a quick return on their website. Black Hat SEO can possibly be result in website penalty & permanent banned from a search engine. Hidden text, cloaking, keyword stuffing & spamming are the examples of black Hat SEO.

As I stated above, spamming itself is a black hat technique in SEO. It is used to increase search engine rankings but the end result is downfall in rankings (could be huge).

I heard many times spam and SEO black hat definition, but really it is not different too much.
But I think in the updating google in 2016, spam and black hat are not beneficial. white hat is the only way to rank website to Top Google.

You had not heard about the new "nofallow" tag?

It's how you make sure your links do not get other other pages pregnant.

Tier 1 PBN, GSA SER tier 2/3 still works!

There is just way too much of this "I HEARD" and "I THINK" nonsense floating around with SEO and link building. So much of this is niche dependent. The only way to know for sure if something works or doesn't work is to try it out and test and track.

I'm with you, GSA definitely is still working as is PBN/SAPE

Black hat is a strategy just as white hat is a strategy. Black hat is really anything that goes against Googles terms. According to them, asking for links and purposely building links to manipulate the SERPS is black hat.

Black hat is more focused on ranking quickly and making money quickly because it's not a long term strategy. With that being said, "long term" is up for discussion.

Spamming and Black Hat is not really the same.

If you have a pbn with 5 sites and post your links in there you are doing black hat but you
    dont spam.

In search engine optimization (SEO) terminology, black hat SEO refers to the use of aggressive SEO strategies, techniques and tactics that focus only on search engines and not a human audience, and usually does not obey search engines guidelines. and spamming itself is a black hat seo

I think black hat behaves more like "hermit SEO" who can unleash terror on you when you hires him to do some jobs for you but spammer goes arround delivering terror on internet users even if you have not invited him. I agree they are both evils.
