Help needed to decide niche

Hello, I have finally found a keyword about which I can write and have knowledge actually. The keyword is having 1000 local monthly searches, 1900 global monthly searches, high advertising competition, and an approx cpc of $1.6.

A .net emd is also available for the keyword, I am thinking of building site on this keyword, but, since I have never created a niche site before, I am having hard time analyzing the competition and concluding if I should go with this keyword.

So, please tell me whether should I go with this niche and build this site or just step back

See the attached image to view competition data collected using market samurai...

  • The screen shot will not open for me.
  • In my view that seems like quite a low search to competition ratio - I personally go for high search volume and low competition.

be interesting to hear what others think...

  • I agree with Kemba. Is the search volume you mentioned with or without quotes?

  • I could not get the image to open. I think this really depends on your experience level. Are you just starting out? Have you ranked websites before?

If you are just starting, I would recommend a keyword with MUCH more traffic. Look for HIGH volume keywords and then just place yourself in front of the wave (many ways to do this).

The only way I go after keywords that only offer 1,000 searches per month is if it's a BUYER keyword.

    • I don't know why you can't access the image, anyway uploaded the image to tinypic,

In my opinion, I think its a "buyer" keyword plus a user friendly one, just 12 characters long. So, very easy to remember also, which I think is good for a product review site having amazon affiliate links.

  • i think its not such a good idea...
go for keywords with low competition and high global search ranking..
moreover create a account on google adword keyword and start searching for keywords there...as its the best tool..
    happy blogging..!!
  • I simply build review sites or blogs with squidoo which is PR7

why waste so much time with a new domain and stuff - that can wait till later when you find out if your keywords and content will actually convert and show profits

its super easy to and cheap!

all I do is get a 1500 word article done from my team cost me $15 and target 1 primary keyword that is a buyers keyword - one I know I can rank to #1 with and then add 5-10 LSI keywords OR secondary keywords and rank those to #1 also (yes - using the same lens)

then apply my social media marketing system and simple backlinking strategies for an 8 week action plan.

I usually get it to #1 within a week and see results - you can backlink more effectivly to squidoo (internally and externally)

far cheaper and more effective then starting an authority niche blog which is how you should be focusing on these days - not sniper sites (google don't care of them much)

anyways this is my strategy when breaking into a new niche - hope that helps
  • also your data is limited so I can not say if your going after a profitable target market.

you would need to post your actual keyword and data to get a solid answer - I do understand why you are trying to hide it though "you don't want people to steal your niche right?" lol

well its a silly question to ask if thats the case

I would suggest you look up a market research service here in the warrior forum and get a pro to take a look at your target market and find you some good keywords that will be profitable and you can rank for
  • If you have the time to do a lot of backlinking, then go for it!
  • I agree with the other posters. It would be a waste of time going after such a tiny niche. Go for a high traffic keyword. It may be tough rising up but you will learn a lot in the process. Perhaps building a link wheel might propel you to the top.
  • Choose a keyword with low competition and high search volume, you can go with current one but it's too low and if you are creating a new website then it would be challenging job to secure top#3 position.
