Good day Warriors,

I don't know if I need to be worried or not about the duplicate meta description and title tags I found on my Google webmastertools. Are these issues affect on my SEO rankings?

Many thanks.

Matt

Yes, it's a problem. You are much better off with no meta tags than having duplicates, especially considering meta tags aren't a factor in your rankings.

And duplicate title tags are likely an even bigger problem.

A meta title would be very unique. They have not been used since

I suppose one should know the difference between meta title (old, very old)
and the title of your page <title> That is, if one choose to give SEO
    advice...

Having the same title tag is a non-issue. Half of my sites use the same
title. I use a general title that fits the whole site.

People panic over stuff that just does not matter. If people concentrated
on what was really important...who knows....

If I have 5 articles on student loan consolidation, I guarantee I will
have each title be just that. Now the h1, h2, etc. being different,
    maybe.

And if it mattered, then every site in the world would seemingly need
a different title. You can't have it both ways. If a unique title means
something, then there is no way google will have the top 10 sites
    all with the same title.

Because you do it doesn't mean it's optimal and it's likely you are missing out on a number of opportunities to rank for a wider variety of keywords, which is really the key to getting traffic.

And if there's a more important few words than the title tag for SEO, please fill us in.

I don't understand this reasoning at all...

First, can you show us any Google SERP for a "decent" keyword phrase where all of the Top 10 sites in the SERPs use the exact same title? I'm not talking about 18 word phrases, but rather realistic keyword-based titles.

And more importantly, there's a big difference between 10 different domains using the same title and the same domain using the same title on 10 different pages, which is what the OP asked.

Duplicate meta description and title will surely create some problems. You have to change it and give unique meta tags and description with title for each and every page.Google Panda focuses on the Duplicacy on the sites so to get good ranking change them all.
