Ehum let me explain, I´m commenting on some blog. I input my url:
url.com/article
Now, if I´m lucky I will get a backlink from that blog. But doesn´t that mean that only the url.com/article page will get a backlink and not my main page url.com?
I thought of this because some blogs have high pr value on their main page but not on their article page.

(No I´m not new to this forum, I was a member 2 years ago but forgott my nickname mostly because I have been inactive, and yes I´m still new to SEO and now gonna be serious about it, Cheers!)

Only the page gets a backlink.

If that's what you're asking. Kinda unclear.

You mention subdomain in the title, then say
nothing about any subdomain. I assume you mean
    subpage(?)

Then you talk about the PR of a backlink, so
    hard to follow.

The PR of a backlink is ONLY related the PR of the page,
not the main index page. Many, many, many, here and
elsewhere mix that up all the time.

@Paul, glad you made sense of that.. even his note at the end about being new or not was unclear.

    That was pretty confusing post.

Like the other day I tried to explain to my wife the meaning of 'paradox' but we just ended up going round in circles.

        LOL!

I assume that the OP want to know, if he got a back link from pages of high PR website, does the PR of the main site be pass to his website.

Yes, sorry for my confusing post, what I ment was exactly what you wrote. I mixed up sublinks and subpage in my question. What I ment was subpage.

          Thanks guys.

Yes many people confuse that home page rank benefit to the inner page, especially in blog commenting.

In simple words as you might be wondering about, yes, only the url.com/article page will get a backlink and not your main page url.com. Also the value of that backlink will depends on the PR of the page you are linking from and not the main site PR.

The page you build the link to is the page that gets the link.

    Simple really

If someone says high PR then one of his page among entire website is ranking well than others. Not all pages ranks on same position in google.

SEO masters. kindly correct me if I am wrong.

You won't get direct link juice but through the various interlinkings in their site you'll get some. Also, on your site, I'm sure the page your linking to also links to your homepage somewhere so it will get some link juice as well from the same backlink.
