This guy is re-posting my entire site. post by post and actually ranking above me for many keywords!

I am so furious right now. Last night while checking some of my long tail keyword ranking in the serps, I found a site that is ranking above me for lost of those keywords.

However, that site is an exact clone of my site, meaning it is using every single post of mine, the exact same way. Even the freaking pages (about me, write for us,...) are the exact same. The only difference is that he or she has changed the names.

Now, I thought maybe the links that I have in my posts (I interlink my posts a lot) are at least there. But no, since he is re posting every single of my posts, which means his site is basically a complete duplicate of my site, he has changed the links, so they point to the same post (as it was in my own site), but obviously that post is on his site as well since he re-posted every single post of mine.

Even the name of the site is almost a punch in your face kind of thing. My site is BlogStash.com and his site is Istash.blogspot.com.

Now, usually when I see a few post of mine being re-posted , I don't really care as I don't have time to contact each and every one of them. But this one is basically re-posting my whole site and actually ranking above me. That is just making me rally angry.

So, I sent him an email (contacted through his blogs contact page) and politely asked him to remove all of my posts (which means deleting his whole site). I told him other wise I would take legal action or at the least would contact blogger and ask them to delete the blog.

It was last night, so I am still waiting for his/her reply. I just needed to post this here as I needed to get this off of my chest.

I just don't understand what makes people think it is ok to take somebody else' work and publish it as their own. I mean, come on. I mean, I can understand it at least if you rewrite the thing, but posting the exact same thing, I mean even down to the link placement, pages and even the logo!...

I mean, I know why he did it. I rank for lots of keywords in make money online niche and until recently I was ranking #1 for make money online and a few other top keywords.

So this guy decided to basically replicate my success (if you can call it that, lol). But unlike other people who go out and actually write their own stuff and replicate the process and not the actual site and content, he basically copied my whole site so he could rank too.

And the funny, yet sad thing is that he actually is ranking for some keywords above me. Wow Google!

What do you guys do in such situations?... Any advice or tipa would be great.

    How it's done:

    - Report DMCA voilation to Google immediately.
    - Contact Web Host + Domain Provider Let Them Know About DMCA voilation
    - Contact Website Owner using Who is, explain DMCA voilation, tell them to remove.
    - If fake info is used ICANN law states 30 days to provide correct info upon request*
    - If all else fails, negative SEO (Last, last resort)
    - Also you can setup javascript code in your content/site so when it's copied you get a backlink.

Google is weird on the timestamp of content, it's really not out there yet. So it's a bad cycle of Google trying to figure out how to give credit to.

I would start with neg seo right away and then the rest. Just use hate/porn anchor txt's in your scrapebox/xrumer blasts. Big chance you ain't getting him down with DMCA stuff, often those people know what they're doing and just register it at places where no one cares.

It's a Blogspot site. The host cares.

Nearly all hosts and/or domain registrars care because legal action can be taken against them as well if nothing is done.

Send the DMCA's. I wouldn't even wait for their response.

          Oh I didn't read properly, sorry @OP.

If I would copy a complete site, no intentions though, I would just take a Ukraine registrar and they can take legal action what they want. Nothing happens.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

I agree with Mikefriedman. Someone had copied articles on my site verbatim as well and after filing a DMCA report to the host, it was taken down.

It's definitely not right what the person is doing copying your site.

You should Report DMCA violation to Google not fast but that should be enough

I agree with the above. It's a Google owned site so they will surely de-index it if they know about it.

Thank you all for your help. I truly appreciate everyone giving me advice here. It already made me feel better.

Since its a blogspot hosted blog, I think MikeFriedman's advice is spot on. So, I will go with that.

I saw bidvertiser ads on his site, so I already sent an email to bidvertiser and explained the situation. I dont know how much they could do, but at the least they could suspend his account.

Thank you for the advice. Since its a blogspot blog, I dont think I would be able to find the contact info of the actual owner. All it shows up is Google and their contact info. So, I think I will go with mike's advice.

I am glad you said "(Last, last resort)" as I really dont want to do that even in this situation. I just hate that word and the act for that matter, and I don't want to be the one justifying using it. Either way, I really am thankful for your reply.

Thank you for this suggestion. I am going to do some research and learn how to do that and I will implement it immediately.

This is the exact reason I will never show anyone my own sites, there's too many lazy IMers waiting to steal anything/everything they can find.

I would imagine blogger will delete his entire blogspot sub domain.

You know, thats one thing I always consider but I didn't think people would be that lazy to copy an entire site. Even offline, I am so trusty of other people that I do get screwed a lot.

And another thing is that they may see your site on the serp and simply go from there. But I see what you are saying, there is a lot more chance of someone who is familiar with Internet marketing seeing your site on an open forum and deciding to copy the entire thing apposed to someone seeing it when browsing the serps.

I do hope they delete this fake a$$ blog.

True, they can find the site in the SERPs, but I personally don't target the IM traffic.

I'm sort of in a good position with my download sites, all my content is inside zip files (2,500+ files) each zip file includes an internet shortcut icon/link back to my site. I doubt anyone would take the time to manually download & edit 2,500+ zip files.

So, even If they steal my files & post the files on their site, they are giving me free advertising.

I've also learned to watermark every single image I post on my sites. I recently had an old site get images ripped off, I didn't have a watermark on those few images (live & learn).

So, I went ahead and filed a report to Google. Lets see what happens.

For anyone interested, here is the link to the BLOGGER DMCA FORM. It can be used only for blogspot blogs related complaints.

From reading a few posts, it seems like within 10 to 20 hours Google will remove the content.

I had something similar happened to me, nothing in the scale as your situation but I did discover some article of mine appearing on some blogspot site. When I contacted the site owner they claimed that they had purchased the articles from someone. So I am not sure if the person who wrote the article for me did set up the site himself or he decided to sell these articles to someone else as well or they were indeed copied from my site.

No duplicate content is only an issue when it's on your own site. As you see you can copy complete sites and rank them just as easily.

The need for unique content is one big myth. But well, you run into copyright issue's when you copy aight

I put up a blog as an example of my work and in a few hours there was another site with the whole blog copied. The really bizarre part about it is that all of the links are the same. He's even running my ads. I checked recently and he's still running my ads. I cannot tell what the motivation is. My blog is on the first page of Yahoo and Bing for several keywords and his is nowhere to be found. Go figure. Oh, BTW, Chinese hosting.

Thank you everyone for helping regarding this issue. Just wanted to update you guys and those who may perhpas find themselves in the same situation near future (I hope no one will).

Just received an email from the blogger team, telling me that they site has been deleted. I checked the blog and it indeed is gone.

It felt really good knowing that they actually do care and do take action. At the same time though, I kind of feel bad for the blogger. I mean he has lost this income source. I dont know how mcuh he was making, but non the less, it was an income.

I know its weird, but I feel good about taking action in regards to my stolen content, but then I feel bad for cutting someones income. But then again, I guess you should keep this scenario in mind when building a revenue stream by copy pasting someone else's site and copyrighted content.

Anyway, thank you guys for your tips and advice.

      Awesome! the Blogger take down!

Don't feel bad about it, the guy was stealing your content in order to make a profit. It's not like he had any original content on the site.

Blogger is awesome about dealing with these types of guys, I figured they would delete the entire sub-domain:
