How to Create Content without Articles

I keep seeing a lot of forum members talking about needing to outsource content because they suck at writing articles.

The purpose of this is to show people that it isn't difficult to create content for pages without writing articles. This is not an end all solution, it's an option for people that don't like writing articles all the time.

This is a simple technique that puts content on your page & allows you to expand a single page into multiple themed pages for better SEO internal links.

This is also targeting buyer traffic, in this case Amazon affiliate traffic.

A lot of times traffic is looking to do comparison shopping, why is product-1 better than product-2? I see a lot of traffic searching like this (notice the in the keyword below):

What the searcher is wanting to do is comparison shop two similar products (DEWALT DC725KA & Makita BHP454).

So, instead of writing a long boring article about two similar cordless drills, simply create an HTML Table, & load the table up with facts, directly from the Amazon sales page. Maybe add a short summary below the HTML Table.

It's important that you use an HTML Table & not an image of the table (like my example table below), so the Table can be used for SEO as plain text keywords.

You can find a lot of HTML Table generators online, here is the Table genrator I used for the screenshot example below:

In this example, I have 3 products (cordless drills) on a single page, I could then create 3 more individual pages, 1 page per product, for a total of 4 themed pages that can be linked together to help create themed relevancy for better SEO.

#search engine optimization #articles #content #create
  • I just had this exact question going through my head but the problem is I don't use tables on my site.

What would you recommend for getting actual articles (text articles) on a blog that I want to link to my site? If theres no way of doing it I'll just outsource the writing.

But I figured I'd still ask.

    Thanks - Red

This is something anyone can do that needs more content on more pages. It doesn't have to be a replacement to articles (unless you want it to be).
  • That's a good point. And even if not, I'm not sure if this technique would be any good for SEO.

Trust me it's good for SEO, it's a simple HTML <table> filled with plain text data.
  • This is a great tip

I was planning on starting a review site for Amazon Products, I wonder if there is a plugin for it.

I saw one on WSO for inserting Amazon Aff Products, but one that will create a comparison table would be great value.

    Thanx for the excellent tip.

    • So I'm assuming that you've done this on one of your sites...for amazon products...and it ended up generating more traffic?

I can see adding an html table with product specs...but in terms of getting more traffic because you added some more content for seo purposes....well I'd like to know if you saw any change...after you implemented this.

I think that those that are searching for amazon products are looking to see which drill ...in this case....is better for their needs.

Having a list of features is good....but the searcher is also looking for reviews and more info.

I would focus on "buyer keywords" too ...and add that into my "on-page" seo.

  • Hey Yukon, how many comparison posts is too much? Say you have 10 similar products, how many would you compare to each other? Is more than one comparison of one product too much because of on-site content duplication?

As long as you have 2+ products to compare, you can't have too many <table> comparison pages. Google see's plain text (HTML <table>), easily verified on any Google Cache page that includes a table.
  • If you do this technique, you want to keep a few things in mind.

    • You want enough content on the page for it to appear natural and appear legitimate to the search engines.
    • Make sure you have enough other relevant content on your site for it to appear like a legitimate site that provides a good user experience.
    • Add some original content
    • Make sure your HTML table displays properly in the main browers

Exactly! You get where I'm going with this.
  • Good idea! More variety to what I can do to blog now. I just need to brush up more html knowledge. I think this technique can bring even further.

It always helps to know HTML, but the <table> generators will produce all the <table> code, then copy/paste on your page & fill in the blanks with product data.
  • thanks for sharing this, although I outsource a lot of articles, but adding this table to the content would make my visitors more comfortable selecting the product they are looking for...

It's up to the webmaster to make sure they don't create duplicate pages.

Having the table on one page & an article on another page isn't a big deal, just make sure you have unique titles, <h> tags, & the text isn't in the exact same order, which it wouldn't be If you had a table on page-1 & an article on page-2.

The table page would be just the facts, the article page would include a lot of stop words.
  • Its nice tip but what about blogs other than physical products like education, travelling etc. Any idea??!!

      • Compare schools
      • Compare best vacations

If you have 2+ related items they can be compared, doesn't matter If your publishing info. on toasters, or fighter jets.

I wouldn't create 10 comparison tables for a single product, that will get you duplicate content, I would imagine all the tables would include the same data. The pages need to be unique.

When I say unique content, that means don't include the exact words in the exact same location on all the pages involved. You can still use most of the text on multiple pages, but you have to make it in a unique order & include additional text that the other pages may not use.

The pages have to be unique.

    • samsung galaxy s3 vs. Samsung Star S5230 (table)
      • samsung galaxy s3 (article)
      • Samsung Star S5230 (article)
    • HTC Sensation Smartphone vs. Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001 (table page)
      • HTC Sensation Smartphone (article page)
      • Samsung Galaxy S Plus I9001 (article page)

You could add an image page for each product to create additional relevant/themed SEO pages, like this:
    • samsung galaxy s3 vs. Samsung Star S5230 (table page)
      • samsung galaxy s3 (article page)
      • samsung galaxy s3 (image page)
      • Samsung Star S5230 (article page)
      • Samsung Star S5230 (image page)

Now you went from two article pages too five relevant pages. That's how you get double/triple SERP listings for a single keyword (more traffic).

For the image pages the goal is SEO, your not trying to push traffic to the image page.

I wouldn't use a table for an image page (overkill IMO).

Have a look around Wikipedia & how they create a new page for every single image. Example, this page includes a thumbnail image of this image page.

The large wiki image page is used for SEO (relevancy).

Example image link flow in screenshot below (scale the number of pages/links as needed):

As far as better SERP position, yes it should help, just keep in mind some keywords are just tough as heck to rank (competition).

My advice for anyone that wants to learn how to get double/triple SERP listings is to pick an easy keyword, do your testing & figure out the process. The easy keyword will show you results faster & let you know your on the right track & ready for tougher keywords.

Anytime your testing something new in SEO, always pick the easy keywords for testing, that way you see results (does it work or not) a lot faster. No since in waiting 6 weeks/months to see If your SEO test work, that's just wasting time.

  • Wow! That is a good idea.
  • Comparison is a great idea. Short, to the point.

Why do people still not know that there is duplicate
content and then there's DUPLICATE CONTENT!

People still cannot distinguish between the two.

I think it's a factor of people not reading stuff for
    themselves.

And tables? Man that was the first, great bit of
    html code that I learned.

  • Yes, what you said is one of internal link building. We don't need to find updated articles, but we only need expand our existed articles in our site. Then create links on them. Search engine like them, and they will give more targeted visitors

    • How exactly do i get this HTML code to work? I make a new page and post the code but its now working for me. Am i doing it wrong?
  • Yukon you hit it spot on. Why try all of these tactics when it's as simple as going to the sites that constantly rank with no problems and dissect their structure. Buy 2 websites in the same niche and test what you learned from a site like wiki against content that you buy and post on the other site in the same fashion that you normally SEO your sites. Use the same or similar keywords and see which one ranks better. Go with the structure that works and you can learn from these tests what didn't work and maybe why. This is something I think i will try myself.
  • yes this is very nice tool and content is the main part of website
  • Using comparison tables is an excellent way to create non-article content.

Another useful method is to just record yourself talking about a topic and uploading it to YouTube and embed the video in your website. If you don't have a video camera on your computer just use your mobile phone

    • Great ideas Yukon, thank you

Or use a screen recording software like Jing to make short videos if you're camera shy!
