Best way to get links on PR4+ travel sites.

What are currently working methods of getting valuable links on sites with PR4+? I've been using guest blogging for now but the problem is the post will not give me the link on the site's homepage where the actual page rank is high enough. I'm usually getting the post published with a link to it staying on the homepage for a short period of time and then is gone so not sure how much of a SEO benefit it will give me.
