Adwords and my adsense blogspots

Google has tempted me with spinning my sites on
adwords. Many of you fellow adsense users know
what I'm talking about. I have always just tossed them.

Until this one. A couple of days ago, I received a different
kind of adwords offer. One geared for blogs. It said I can
get more readers of my adsense blogs by using adwords.

(Note how they really were not talking about sales or
revenue) Quite an intriguing proposal.

It then dawned on me, what have been waiting for?
After all, $100 of free ads can't ever be wrong, right?
Just never thought about it.

Having helped a few do adwords, I figured what the heck.

So, I decided to use the first $50 as testing. Chose one
ad, one blog, 30 keywords. Got 18 clicks on the ads for
the first $40. I then kept the 2 keywords that were getting
99% of the clicks, ditched the rest. I also tweaked the
blog. I did a new blog post, basically doing a huge content-ish
article on the dot com that goes with it. (I should have
done that first, dang it!)

I should mention that those 18 clicks earned jack squat. Zip,
as far as I could tell.

Once I tweaked the first article and keywords, things brightened
up. Looks like I'll make about $40 for the two days of running.

I know. $100 for $40. Well, that was $40 free, and, it did give
that blog a whole bunch of publicity. Keep in mind that the
$40 came from about the last $60, and my CPC had been lowered
from $1.75 to $.97.

Probably with a little tweaking, I actually could break even.
Who knows what that would lead to? Linkbait? Bookmarks?
It may pay off in the end.

BUT....I am not even thinking about going on with adwords.

The whole point of this post is just to tell you that if you
got a free $100 adwords coupon from google to use with
your adsense sites, your blog would be a perfect match.

You can't lose. Free ads, publicity, and maybe a few extra bucks.

I should out another disclaimer. I do have a plethora of blogspot
blogs that are quite highly ranked. Google probably is more
lenient with blogspot. My ad was approved and spun immediately.

I have a stack of those coupons on my desk (snail mail) & probably a couple dozen expired coupons in my email (lol).

Did you know you can get $0.01 - $0.02 targeted clicks all day long (everyday) when running Adwords on Youtube? Obviously not $0.01 - $0.02 for every keyword on Youtube, but a lot of them (and high traffic keywords to).

Since your not selling anything to the Adwords traffic, might have been a good idea to setup a Feedburner email form. That way you get to stay in contact with the traffic. Feedburner emails have consistently been my best performer for Adsense.

Funny thing, I was able to get some keywords at 0.01,
but no traffic. I mean zero. In a couple of hours, I
had over 6,000 impressions and none for those.

You make a good point for those wishing to continue
to use adwords. Look at all possibilities. I did not
even see a specific youtube program, but just
      checked the use all button.

You also reiterate that adwords, even with no sales
or products, can actually be quite useful.

I'm only estimating the adsense revenue. I have
a couple of dollars left, and I think it will be close
to $50. Not bad for maybe 2 hours total work
      in 2 days.

It would be easy for me to break even. And breaking
      even today may payoff tomorrow.

But, like I said, I've got other things to do at the moment.

Nobody should discount adwords, that's for sure.

I never even thought of it for branding. Man that opens
up a whole slew of possibilities for people here.

I guess you don't read the vouchers they send to adsense users BEGGING them
to run their adsense sites on adwords.

Let me reiterate that this come on was specifically for my adsense blogs.
Getting my blog seen by more people. That was the goal they gave.

Google does not ban adsense sites from adwords. Big myth. People just
      don't read.

      Hello from Google!

As an adsense publisher, you may know how important it is to grow your
audience. That's why I'm writing: to suggest a way to attract new readers
      to your content.

anyone with a blog to mull over, adsense or not.

Good point! Instead of throwing out all of those coupons, maybe I should actually try using one of them...
