So I JUST heard about "authorship" 5 minutes ago and it kinda blew my eyes away.

As from what my friend is telling me, this is the 'big' Google update? Hmm. I guess it's time for me to persuade all my friends on FB to switch over to G+ .

I don't see Google Plus ever replacing Facebook or Twitter, but the rel=author certainly looks eyecatching in the search results, doesn't it?

This is actually kind of funny, it has been around for quiet a while now. This is one of those things like review stars that can provide a little extra trust between you and users which they read the SERP.

Mr. Cutts has confirmed it is not used by the current algo to rank sites however having the picture show up in the SERPS does increase CTR significantly.

For the few minutes it takes to setup, it is one of the best time investment vs reward activitys you can do

I've had this setup for at least six months. It's no big deal It can't hurt, but it's not a big booster.

How do I get my authorship tag to rank higher in organics? I write really thoughtful, well-researched, original, helpful blog posts, I have about 2,000 personal G+ followers, about 5,000 G+ followers for the business page linked to my personal page, and my author posts are on pages 10 and up. May as well not even be there.

My competitor does horrible blog posts, if you can even call them that, which consist entirely of keyword stuffing and links. He doesn't even use sentences, just throws words out there that he wants to rank for. He uses the rel=author tag.

He has ONE G+ follower. ONE. And his company doesn't even have a G+ page.

His articles rank on the first page! How does this happen? How do I get MY posts there instead?
