Will a Page with Good Seo Rank if other pages have bad SEO?

I am in the middle of putting together a shopping site, and I was wondering how Google will see my site if the majority of the pages (products) have poor SEO (duplicate content, no keywords, no descriptions), and about 5-10 pages (blog/How to) have excellent SEO.

Will Google "grade" my site on a curve, or will it just ignore the bad stuff and focus on the good?

I am inclined to think that Google will take the entire site into consideration when ranking certain pages, but I thought I would check before I did all the work.

Any input helps!

    Yes, google usually penalises posts/pages on an individual basis.

    Yes, of course.

    You can easily outrank a page if it's not properly optimized for the keywords it's ranking for. Even if the site itself has more authority than yours. Just make sure your on-page SEO is spotless.
