Cons of one page wordpress theme?

Why wouldn't I want to use a one page wordpress theme?

Getting ready to make a new website to replace one that was lost to the latest algo updates. ( this is for a local offline service business )

A couple years ago, I use to worry that a one page website would not rank as well. I figured they would be seen more like a landing page then a complete website.

Now... I'm thinking it would be great to have all that content on one page. It's web pages, not websites that get ranked anyways, right?

Here's an example of the type of site I'm think of.

NANICA

Anything you see wrong with this?

That's not a 1 page site, it still has a blog:

  • Also the pages are individual.

  • As the other's have said, it's just a homepage + there's a blog section.. There's links to other pages on the site too.. But should you happen to stubmle upon a real one page wordpress theme use it as a landing page, don't try to rank it.
  • As a general rule, a one page is unlikely to rank as well as a site with multiple pages.

Google wants to promote good user experience. Google also prefer trustworthy sites...signs suggesting trustworthiness might include things like a terms of use page and a contact page.
  • It's pointless to create a one page theme for wordpress - because it's much more easier to create that one page in plain HTML and then include a link to a blog with a custom WP theme...

    • O.k., bad example, but there are one page themes without blogs, whats your take on ranking a site like this? This is for local.

This will be ranked as it will be connected to a google +, it will be the main website for a local offline business. Most "landing" pages have little to no content and do not rank, but if you have 750 - 1000 words, don't you think it could rank? Think about all the backlinks from citations, too.

it will still contain a contact page and even terms if needed, it just happens to be on one page.

Guys, don't you see a benefit to having all that content one one homepage instead of spread out across multiple pages. Its hard to create alot of content for a local business. There's not much more then an "about us" "services" "contact" to your standard local website.

Thanks for all the input so far.
