I just launced a new site, EMD

Keyword 260 exact searches, and it's at #3 out of 108 MILLION pages, only 3 days.

Damn I ROCK!
#108 #competition #days #rank

This is called QDF (query deserves freshness).

    It probably won't last long.

AND if you want my advice..

EMDs are only good if used correctly.

A lot. LOTS AND LOTS, of time and effort goes into a successful EMD site.

    Good luck.

What's the strength of your page 1 competition?

You're migh just be feeling the love of the Google Honeymoon period. If so, they'll blow you off soon enough, and you'll fall back to where they think you should be.

It's lovely. But the keyword is totally worthless, it haven't brought me a single visitor yet. This site is more about branding, it's a questions & answers site with 15 pages that target 15 questions. I didn't even check the searches of the brand name but it turned out to be few hundred searches.

Anyway it was not my focus to rank for it, it's about the internal pages that I need to rank so I placed 2 bookmarks at my private sites and 2 listings at my PR5 web directories.

All the other pages that I do need to rank show up in the top 100 but no top 10 listings yet. It's kind of my new test site.

In any ways you are taking benefit of it, that is good. I have one which is driving some traffic also.

How many EXACT matches are you competing against?

If 1,800,000,000 broad matches = 400 exact matches, then you know....it's not that big of deal.

The OP know this and thats the point hes clearly trying to make.

For years, people have been waffling on about find how many competing pages there are by searching in qoutes when the reality is your competion is the 1st page of google and thats it.

Stuff like this makes me think if people are reading the right
              stuff on the WF.

Any SEO "expert" worth a snail would know they are
not "outranking" 108,000,000 sites in their competition.

Surely you people know that, right? Yes? Hello? Earth?

My gosh....I dunno people....you really have to look
close at exactly what people say when claiming
              to do SEO.

Just think. This thread ranks #6 for 108,000,000

The competition is a staggering 445,00 websites! Holy
cow! Who knew it would be so easy to beat 445,000
other sites competing for this keyword! WF, you rock!

445,000 other sites, tryin' like squirrels to rank for
108,000,000, and the WF beats 99.9999999999999999% of 'em!

              Squirrels? Yup! That's nuts!

You can't miss a day, it would screw your link velocity completely and make it way to unnatural. I would also vary it up a bit like day1: 98 links, day2: 102 links and so on but never go outside of the 3.6% comfort zone. Some people say you need to build more links each day but that's not true, I mean there are also only so many people born each day right? Sure the population increases but the countries we target, US, Europe have this how you say it "too many old ones" so it all evens out.

Oh I guess I didn't quiet understand it yet

      allintitle:without quotes
      About 87,700 results (0.22 seconds)

      allintitle:"with quotes"
      About 74,300 results (0.12 seconds)

      allinurl:without quotes
      About 46,500 results (0.20 seconds)

      allinurl:"with quotes"
      About 36,200 results (0.24 seconds)

WOW still beating ten thousands of sites! :p

Now let's see what the more professional tools have to say about this:

      SEOMoz 64% competition level
      SerpIQ 50% competition level

Okay shoot me guys, 4 sites on page 1 with PA1 and 0 Linking Root Domains to that page (as expected) lol and seomoz still manages to say it's 64% competitive, what a waste of $99/month. Well not entirely true cause it's never smart to focus on just numbers. The PA percentages are very helpful to determine the true competition.

SerpIQ is also not even coming close to the reality. If I had to give this kw a competition number I would say 5%

So what does intitle/inurl/competing pages mean? Totally NOTHING

Why use it? While not the only factor to check for actual competition the allintitle search returns the actual number of pages containing your keyword AND some permutation of the keyword AND the WORDS in the keyword that are contained in the TITLE tag.

Due to the fact that Google gives much credit to Title tag optimization it's simple to deduce that one should optimize your title tags and presumably your competition is too. It should also be assumed that if they optimized the title tag that the actual page is about the same topic mentioned in the title. Hence, it should be assumed that the page is also about the same topic you are attempting to rank for, subsequently, they are your competitor...therefore, using the title tag to identify actual competing sites is an accurate method of assessing the competing TITLE Inventory on web AKA competing sites..

Check your SERPS in 6 weeks. Then report back.

This may help educate newcomers: Step 2 - Competition Research

        Hope that helps.

Theoretically your description makes a lot of sense. In practice that flyer does not go up. Allintitle Allinurl doesn't even show in the slightest sense how competitive a keyword is. It's time that you go back to the drawing board boy and practice a little more!

Btw I didn't rank this keyword with nothing, I placed 2 PR4 homelinks and 2 listings at my private PR5 web directories, those are pretty damn strong so it's really not suprising that I end up at #3.

nik0: this thread is spam... i.e: a promotion for your sig and you know it, almost clicked on the report button

seojedi: you have been learning too much from the gurus. From now on do not use that useless "allintitle" stuff, "in quotes", etc. The ONLY competition is the results google returns on page 1 WITHOUT "in quotes", "in titles", etc.

... what users see on page 1 and what google returns in the top 10 are your only competition, period

        this section is a mess...

Lol this is spam but not for my sig link, it was kind of funny when I saw 2 almost identical threads with bold claims and few days before I just launched my site and got those results so just thought it was funny to beat both of them. Gonna remove my sig links out of this thread to prove everyone wrong !

Actually it was a bit bad publicity as I started to think oh boy, everyone will think I'm the biggest noob around here lol but gladly someone saved me in the 4th or 5th post.

That's what I said...forgive me if it was unclear.

You are correct, (somewhat) but for the purposes of this thread I was merely making the point that when attempting to assess how many pages you're actually competing against that the ALLINTITLE parameter provides a fairly accurate depiction of this number.

To say you rank #1 while competing with 18 million other pages (if that's the "out of 18 million pages #) is false and misleading and it's used by backyard SEO's to trick clients into thinking they have skillzzzz.

Troll or not, newcomers can learn from this thread. :-)

Regardless of the jabs, using the allintitle, coupled with several other variables is a good quick way to get a glance at the overall title tag market for your keyword phrase.

This is actually a pretty valuable method of getting a PR pretty quickly, I wonder how many people actually paid attention to this?

I think most have no clue what high PR links even mean. Not very surprising cause people sell blog comments as high PR links, sure it's a link at a high PR page but when you have to share it with 100's or 1000's of others it's not valuable anymore. Then others manage to sell pr n/a forum profile links as being a PR9 link, so yeah what are 2 pr4 links and 2 listings at pr5 web directories really worth LOL.

Got to say those links are not permanent, the PR5 web directories have about 20 listings right now and each week we add about 20-30 more sites. Still a 1000 times better then directories that already have 10.000's of listings obvious. And the PR4 sites are bookmark sites that receive 15 posts each month so although they do drip of there is still plenty of juice flowing through the sites. That's kind of the benefit of private domains, no one but me can post there instead of public sites that get spammed a 100.000 times a day.

A full SenukeX campaign won't beat those 4 links in juice and when you look how long it takes to setup such campaign then those 4 links are placed just as fast manually, perhaps even faster. Sure those domains do cost a chunk of money but it's worth it as you can use it for many sites.

Just read a post where someone claimed he gets paid in six figures to rank an ultra competitive keyword with 1.7 billion results!! you should atleast get paid in 5 figures for ranking a keyword out of 100 million results. :p
