Hi Guys

I'm starting a small business in which I fix resume pictures to make them perfect... remove red eye, whiten teeth, remove acne, skinny face, remove double chin etc...

I think that "profile picture" is the best keyword for me to use..

how much do you think I will be lookin at SEO price wise to make google page 1?

Thanks!

First see the competition of your keyword through Google Adwords. And then choose alternatives from there which suits you the best. And regarding how much you pay for SEO i recommend not to go for those who themselves are promoting themselves.Research more to get your service well done. You can take help of Fiver. They provide good freelancing services.

Depends on whether you are paying me. If not then not much but if you are them make it a check with as many zeros as you can fit.

Anyway you have gotten your first really bad advice. You are better off looking in the warrior classified section than fiverr. Despite aadi144's opinion they have the worst SEO services on the planet.

"Profile picture" is a terrible keyword for that service. Way too broad. Resume touchups have nothing to do with Facebook profiles, Twitter profiles, Google profiles, or any of the hundreds of other services with profile pictures. You'd spend a ton of money to get to page 1 for that search... and it'd be wasted, as nobody searching it is looking to spend money touching up a picture for a resume.

Plus, this service doesn't make sense in the first place. Resumes should not have pictures. That's a major no-no. It's illegal to discriminate in hiring based on age, race, gender, disability and many other factors you can discern from a photo. The best way for an HR department to protect themselves from lawsuits alleging an applicant was turned down due to illegal discrimination is to throw out resumes with photos without even considering them.

You don't want to be in the business of selling hope to job applicants while secretly knowing that every time you convince someone to buy your service, you're actually convincing them to kill their chances of being hired. It'll eat your soul, slowly, every single night, until you don't have one anymore.

Figure out a better market for your touchup services.

Dan, right yes I'm going to be targeting Facebook people who want that good looking profile picture as well... So should I be looking at "Facebook Pictures" as my keyword... which gets 2.7 million searches monthly?

No, you would target things like "touch up facebook pictures", not "facebook pictures". You want to reach people looking for touchup services, not everyone who has a Facebook account. Especially since getting on page 1 of "facebook pictures" is unlikely even if you had thousands a month to spend -- you're not going to be the best result for that search. No amount of page optimization, link building, etc. will make you the best result for that search. Google should not return your site when someone searches that.

Just put yourself in the mind of someone who is looking for your service. What would they search for? "Facebook pictures" shows no intent, "remove red-eye facebook photo" does.

The thing though... I think people are gonna be more inclined to purchase the touch up when they know its available... I dont think very many 18 year old girls roll out of bed thinking today Im gonna get my profile picture airbrushed... its something that will strike them when they know its available.. yeah, no?

If you spend your time chasing keywords you can never rank for that have nothing to do with touching up photos, they'll never hear about you then either.

Making people aware that your service exists, and why they should pay for it, is called marketing. You need to do some marketing.

If you're not sure where to start, there's a whole section at your local bookstore.

    Hi,
Just my opinion, I don't think people looking for resume modifications are going to type in profile picture... perhaps something with resume in it would work better.

Start by buying all the keywords you think might be relevant with AdWords. You'll quickly find out which ones have not just volume, but people actually interested in paying for your service. Then target those searches with your SEO campaign... based on actual data, not guesses.

I guess I'm more or less just looking for traffic... whether its targeted traffic or not it really doesn't matter that much I'd prefer to get mostly females to my page since I think they would be the ones mostly to purchase an airbrushed enhanced photo.. I need to get them to my page for them to realize there is even a service like this available.... I hope that made sense..

An idea I had was to make an online resume of myself, with photos, video of me talking etc, and include the link in job applications.

Maybe that's a service you could offer. Market it as "21 st century resumes" or something zany like that.
