One of my keyword which i strongly want to appear in top 3 is available in EMD. Now the question is if i buy that domain, how can i drive traffic to my exact blog where my article was posted. For example.. should i 301 redirect EMD to actual blog page for that keyword ?

    No.

If you register the EMD then you should build out a completely separate site

  • Boosters,

I agree with MatthewWoodward, you should not redirect traffic to a TLD to a blog post. You should build a site around that new domain. You could also redirect your old domain to the new domain name.

Check out this post on redirecting an aged domain to increase a new domains value,

    Hope this helps,

If you're planning on trying your luck with some spammy backlinks I would build them to the EMD after doing the 301 Redirect to the TLD...

But if you're not building spammy backlinks I would agree with the others and build out a complete site on it.
