Sharing Google Analytics Tips & Techniques

I've been finding that Rank Tracker software is so limited and doesn't give the insights that I need to actually improve my sites, increase conversions, find more keywords to target, etc. Spending more time learning the intracacies of Google Analytics is getting me there, but I still have a while to go.

I though it would be great for us to share some our our analytics tips and learn from eachother. Let me kick it off:

Here's my favorite analytics technique right now: create a custom report in google analytics showing all the traffic and goal completions by "keyword group" by running a filter for your parent keyword. It will show you all the long tail traffic you're getting around that phrase. The custom report will let you easily access that in the future. You can make a Group of custom reports to keep them organized.

Here's a great tip to make creating custom reports MUCH easier. You don't have to create them from scratch; just modify any standard report to your liking and then click Customize at the top. It will automatically create a Custom Report based on that standard report which you can then edit (note: it doesn't save your filters, so you have to recreate them)

Look forward to hearing your tips. If anyone knows a way to track rankings in GA, please share!
