Is this White, Black or Gray???

Hi guys!

I have created a link that goes to google and only shows the links that I want shown. There are no PPC ads on the google search page as well as no suggested searches ... just my pages are indexed on it.

I don't know if this is manipulating google because I am using just some basic SEO tactics to do this. I was planning on using this for something like Yahoo Answers as a resource link.

What do you guys think ... white, gray, or black ()?

And do you have any ideas besides Yahoo Answers that something like this would work for?

Thanks for your input!

Big Rich

    Clarify this:

I have created a link that goes to google and only shows the links that I want shown.

For those of you who are slightly confused, look at Dan's post ... he's pretty close to hitting the nail on the spot. His link is restricted to a website (warriorforum.com) where mine is not restricted to any.

Pretty much it would make it look like there are a lot of sites on the Google search page, when in fact they are all controlled by me.

I would show you my example of making a link like Dan's but without a limitation on the domain. However, I don't want to spill the beans out of the bag just yet.

Very confusing post. What exactly did you do? If you can, please post screenshots so we can help you. Google's been very sensitive regarding backlink footprints. The stakes are definitely high.

How is it possible to manipulate the actual Google search engine so that only your websites are shown on the entire page and all ads are disabled? Can actual searches be performed on this page? Or did you create a dummy Google page that is meant to look like the real thing but is only a mock up.

        Here:

        Click for a useful resource!

This is a link to a Google page that shows only the site I wanted to show and there are no ads.

That is interesting. I viewed the page source. Is this the only thing that you had to change?

I linked you directly to a Google search result on Google's website. I didn't (and can't) change any of the HTML. I just constructed a URL the same way the form on Google's homepage works.

Okay I got it. That's how it's done. I constructed one too

              This is actually easy!

I did not quite understand what your mean, but if you just create a link to Google search results, it is ok. But if you will start spamming it arround, it is a Black Hat and it worked about 3 years ago and I think not any more.

I'm still confused as to what you're trying to do. Google can be quite ornery so be careful.

  • I prefer to not think of the world in shades of black white and grey. I myself am a lovely shade of lavender.

That being said, it's pretty blackhat but many of us still want to know how to do it so if you're not going to spill the beans on how it's done, I'd have to deem this thread pretty much pointless. Sorry if that's harsh?

I mean, really, if you have to ask if it's ok, then it's not. Sort of like when you say to someone, "this tastes awful! here, taste it"... you're not really asking if it's bad. You already know that it is. You just want confirmation.

He already told you exactly what he's doing. Linking to a Google search that he knows his own pages are the only matches for, and nobody is advertising for that search so there are no ads. If you're confused how that's done, I gave an example.

Kind of... The OP came back and said that your example was "on the right track" except that in yours, it clearly tailored the search down to specific sites. His method that he "doesn't want to spill the beans" about appears to just be a google search.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, OP.

The user of the link thinks they're looking at different sites that meet their needs when, in reality, all listed sites are the OPs.
