HI,

Is there any impact SEO wise if the files names for all my web pages where written as 'Capitalized'..

www.mysitename.com/Golf/The-Best-Golf-Clubs.php

as against non 'capitalized'

www.mysitename.com/golf/the-best-golf-clubs.php

I'm finding many conflicting answers as to whether there is any difference, or penalty.

Of course it would be that all the pages of the site would be consistent throughout.

NOT some pages 'Capitalized-Pages, and others -non capitalized-

      Hi GlenH,

The search engines don't care if you use caps or not. However, if your web server is case sensitive it could be an issue if you generate a ton of 404 errors. If your server is not case sensitive then it doesn't make a difference.

There are many possible situations where a URL to your site could have the case forced to lower case and in the event your server is case sensitive (i.e. Unix/Linux platforms) visitors will get a 404 error.

will not work if you use caps

Right, using drop caps in the file name may cause canonicalization

yea using caps in url causes 404 error at times for people who directly enter want to enter the url and open it... they might not use some capital ... so betta be with the lowercase

so use a file name without any capitalization to avoid this error and for visitors to be not confused by file name
