Another Panda thread, just few questions for PRO's

Hello warriors,

I have figured out that my website got hit by panda. Now I did a bit research and found out what is Panda looking for:

• A high % of duplicate content. This might apply to a page, a site or both. If it’s a site measure then that might contribute to each page’s evaluation.
• A low amount of original content on a page or site.
• A high % (or number) of pages with a low amount of original content.
• A high amount of inappropriate (they don’t match the search queries a page does well for) adverts, especially high on the page.
• Page content (and page title tag) not matching the search queries a page does well for.
• Unnatural language on a page including heavy-handed on-page SEO (‘over-optimization’ to use a common oxymoron). Eg unnatural overuse of a word on a page.
High bounce rate on page or site.
Low visit times on page or site.
Low % of users returning to a site.
• Low clickthrough % from Google’s results pages (for page or site).
• High % of boilerplate content (the same on every page).
• Low or no quality inbound links to a page or site (by count or %).
Low or no mentions or links to a page or site in social media and from other sites.

Now I have bolded out the reasons why my site dropped.

- My bounce rate is around 90%
- My average visit on the site is ~30sec.
- Low % users returning to the site
- No social signals.

NB: All my sites are micro niche sites for resolving a one specific problem, so It's possible to make returning visitors, but I'm able to make bounce rate better, average visit and social signals.

What you suggest to do?

I was planning to add a video for the main page to higher the average visit time on the site. I was planning to create "squeeze" page to sell the product on another page, so when people go to my site they will also click to another page. Social signals? It's almost impossible to get them naturally so I thought that I will order some likes/shares?

What you think about this strategy, does it help? What are your suggestions to improve the bolded factors?

Thanks

I don't think those four metrics are huge factors for Panda. But there's been lots of speculation around them.

    Social isn't there yet.

And Google doesn't use / can't measure the first three. They CAN measure whether their searchers land on your page and click the back button. But that's a completely different number from your bounce rate. Some sites with ridiculously high bounce rates have been unaffected by Panda. So a page with a high bounce rate doesn't automatically make it less useful to the reader. It could immediately answer their query.

You should probably take a second look at the others. Or get someone to look at it for you with a fresh pair of eyes. People can't usually tell or won't admit that their baby is ugly. Blinded by teh love, I guess ?

Can Google even know this sort of stuff (short of cross referencing data with Google Analytics)?

Publicly, they've said they don't use Google Analytics data. Metrics like a site's bounce rate are too "noisy" to indicate quality, or so they say.

Frankly, I believe them ...many don't and swear off using GA and WMT for that reason. But really the only reason to not use those products is if you don't want to link ownership or affiliation with two or more sites together.

PLUS ..it wouldn't exactly be fair to anyone to reward or penalize the less than 20% of webmasters who use their webmaster products.

Well mando, PM'd me the link to the site in question. It's a nice looking site. Everything he says up top is true. The content is original, yes.

But original content doesn't equal useful or quality. I can tell the content isn't written by a native English speaker and more importantly, someone who is knowledgeable or experienced in the subject. The grammar makes it painful to read, and I can see why searchers would bounce at first opportunity.

IMO, you're doing the very bare minimum with content. The sweet four term exact match domain and the affiliate links aren't helping either. Google doesn't want sites like this in their search results.

Thanks for your honest opinion! Yeah, I should correct the grammar or let some "pro" to write totally new article for me.

Are you also saying that I shouldn't use that EMD?

Do you also suggest me not to add any affiliate links on the homepage? Maybe I should point my link on the homepage to "squeeze" page..
