Does writing amazing content in your blog lead to backlinks?

I have a web 2.0 property I am trying to promote and I'm trying to determine the best link building strategy. Either to have someone build links for me or to hire a writer and have them write great content for my blog that is attached to the web property.

Does writing good content for your blog really pay off? Do people really link to your blog articles? I wonder what the ratio is (how many blog articles actually get linked to).

Should I hire a link builder to build links manually or just write amazing content and syndicate it?

Think more in terms of marketing. Create great content but make sure its seen. Promote it, share it and if you are confident in building good links do that too.

Yes, people do link to your content based on my experience.

    A. You need great content that will engage readers.
    B. You need traffic and to promote your website to get readers.

You can't just do one or the other.. It's like ranking a site with no salespage.. Or creating a salespage and driving no one to it..

Plenty of platforms you can promote your site on. Start by building up your site with quality content, and start doing SEO to get a solid ranking to get more traffic. Promote on all the social sites, build your foundation and go from there.

Also why are you promoting your Web 2.0's? Spend your time promoting your money site, with your own domains..

    Yes.

When I publish articles that are suited to a social media buzz - topical/funny/weird/amazing - I get links.

But it doesn't happen by accident - I try to bring the article to the attention of the right people/bloggers via social media (posting in forums - reddit - on Facebook pages etc.)

I would say build a great content and at the same time promote it. This process should go hand in hand otherwise no point in creating a stuff which is not visible to the readers. If your content is unique, people would definitely link to it.

      I disagree.

People will link to your content for many reasons, but uniqueness is rarely one of them.

Some motivations people have for linking include:
      - Gives prestige to the linker for 'uncovering' great content
      - Allows the linker to associate themselves with great content
      - Linker get's to promote something they agree with/support
      - Linker feels superior by pointing out what they disagree with in blog posts etc.

      Getting the picture?

I've never seen a blog post saying "Hey check this out - it's boring but it's unique and I'm sure you'll all be impressed with me for bringing this to your attention"

      • You can write a completely unique post that offers tons of information, but no one will see it unless you promote it. It is important to create valuable content and drive targeted traffic to your pages in order to increase readership and gain quality backlinks.

Writing good content does pay off but writing good content is only a part of it. Promotion would be the next step, like how to get people to read your good content. Outsourcing a link builder is a good first step if you don't know the mechanics yourself...

I think we need more information about your business and what your trying to do. Really great content is very important but people need to find it first. Its also a very long term way of doing SEO and should be used with link building. A quick note that most great blogs do not even need to do any SEO on there site the readers do it for them. If you need some help getting a VA to do some link building let me know always willing to help warriors there. However I would not use a VA if you need awesome, amazing content. They can write well but you should be doing that yourself not even outsourcing it to a US writer ususally. Hope that helps

Building links to your content is easy enough to do by yourself. It may be time consuming but it can be rewarding. For instance if you are spreading your link on similar blogs this gives you a chance to read about what other people in your niche are talking about providing inspiration - a way of watching your competition and if you hire somebody to link build for you it can be expensive and a waste of time as half the links are rubbish and do not get found by google or search engines as they are irrelavant.

Building viral marketing is equally important as getting a quality article. Make sure you promote in the right channel to lure in visitors to your site. Otherwise, it just a useless effort.

I don't think writing amazing content on your blog will bring you backlinks. But that shouldn't stop you from writing quality content. Some webmaster will chance upon your website and might link back to your site. but if you want quality backlinks to your site, then do proper seo or look for a professional seo company to do that for you

Writing amazing content will not bring backlinks to your site in the sense that amazing content can be duplicate. You have to write fresh content it will automatically become amazing when people start liking it.Then its your work to promote that content everywhere you think its gonna help you.

Writing amazing content will not bring back links at all If you do not have readers to read your article. I would recommend you to build links manually.

No doubt content matters a lot. However, you should use link building also for good ranking and popularity. If you are good enough in writing content then you can write it yourself but it should be informative and should convey proper information to your audience. For link building you can hire any link builder who can build backlinks for your blog.

    Hey there thought I would chip in here;

Yes good content makes a massive difference. It's not just about backlinks; yes you can get people using your content and linking back to you on their blogs, and this is a great things. However writing solid content does more than just build links!

By providing good content you are providing real value. If you are writing content just for the sake of getting links etc, then the content will be dire, seem awkward and not really connect with people. However if you always have your reader in mind when you write content, not only will you deliver excellent value on your blog/article, but your reader will want to follow you because you will be seen as an expert.

Doing the above will help you to generate a following in your niche, which is priceless. So yes, work on good content, but not for backlinks alone, but for providing excellent value. Giving things away for free is a powerful way to make money in business; honest!
