My hired SEO is spamming blogs, forums, etc.

I recently hired an overseas SEO company who were pretty cheap. I simply gave them articles, URL's and keywords that I wanted to rank for, and left it upto them exactly what they did.

Since then I have seen some good results in Google, even page 1 for some terms, but when I looked at the links they have created most of them are what I would call spam: such as meaningless posts on forums and blogs totally unrelated to my site, with my URL in the profile or signature. Also the spun articles don't make much sense to any native-english speaker.

Is this modern-day SEO and perfectly normal ?!? Or am I setting myself up for problems in the future when Google roles out another update ?

You may have paid for negative SEO, either way you defiantly paid for crap service, it happens. Learn from this experience and move on.

Basically you got what you paid for... lord I hope you didn't pay over 5 dollars because almost any gig on fiver can do this.

I am not going to say you could end up creating problems for yourself down the road however I will say don't be too shocked if it happens. Clearly you will be one of those people biting their nails due to rumors of an upcoming update.

Every SEO company posting here offers "blog comments" or "forum comments" ... isn't that just spam ? Unless they take the time post an intelligent comment on the blog/forum but they'd need to know the subject well, which is unrealistic.

You did not hire a SEO company. You hired a backlinking company that almost certainly was an auto backlinking company

or in other words a fiverr gig

      ROTFLMAO! Touche, Mike!

I think that's a statement that can't be repeated often enough.

Getting to the title, "My hired SEO is spamming blogs, forums, etc."

Well, for a ton of people here, that's what they LOVE to do!

And people must remember, that your site can make it despite
some "lousy" links. Lousy does not mean they hurt.

If you saved a penny a day, you would have $3.56 at the end
      of the year.

I would not work with them. I would not think that they are helping me over THE LONG TERM.

I would suggest you to stop this SEO process immediately, as you are paving a way for a bigger trouble. Spamming on blogs and forums and other user submission related websites, will get your website penalized and moreover would make your domain popularized as spammers. I believe, the latter is a bigger problem compared to the former.

The problem is those results wont last, and the links provided by that company may end in a Google slap.

I would suggest to ditch them as soon as, could be doing worse for your business rather than good.
