    Hey,

Google has allowed the same domain to rank multiple times for a certain query. For instance, one domain could take over the whole 10 places of the search results. It was fairly common to even see 5 results all coming from the same domain.

With this "Diversity of Domains" update, they try to fix that in order to allow more domains to rank where previously too many spaces were occupied by the same site.

My guess is that this update should not concern you much .. unless you run a site the size of Wikipedia

      I'm seeing the exact opposite

more and more single domains taking up the whole damned page...which might not be bad

I've spent the last 59 months building 412 MFA sites. Each site averages 8 cents per day...I said average, some make up to 17 cents per day, PASSIVE INCOME! This income allows me to live comfortably and buy ANY flavor Jolly Rancher or Skittles I desire. Don't give in to fear, it CAN be done!

True, it should not be of concern. Should you have two pages on Google's page one for the same keyword (with different urls on the same domain), Google will take the better one (on-page SEO) and remove the other.

The pendulum seems to swing both ways on this. Back in 2010 they added more "branded" results so that you were more likely to see multiple results from companies and larger sites for a single query. Now I guess they are backing off, probably based on user input (using the block results feature for instance). Welcome change imo.

    Who for?

I too am seeing the opposite on many of my keywords. What is the benefit to the casual searcher of seeing page after page of returns from the same sites?
