What is the greatest advice you can give to the newcomers to Adsense? I am not seeking the master key to Adsense success, but something you think is a "tip" or a "hint" about how to use Adsense for maximum effect.

    Write unique content.

Then go back and edit it for keywords so that you can attract appropriate ads.

Make sure you do your onpage SEO tightly, but not over tightly. If you are using WP, get a plugin that helps keep track of the fields you need to fill in for good onpage SEO.

      Hi Michael!

I have been using SEO Yoast for the past six months. I do the following two things and nothing else:

      1. Create title (which usually remains the same as post title)
      2. Write Descriptions

      And nothing else......

I do not put in the keywords as I use tags.

      I will appreciate your advice.

          Certainly not
Things went worst ever since the page rank improved from 1 to 3. Pagerank improved and the traffic went down.

Page Rank has nothing to do with traffic.

But I guess you know that now.

I'd say it is probably the niche. If you can find a niche with low competition, and high cost per click, then you should be able to show up on the first page of Google without much effort. The second most important thing I would say is a diverse off-site SEO strategy.

I'd say - stop thinking about Adsense. It's a really low value way to make money and you need a MASSIVE amount of traffic to make any decent money from it.

A few years ago it was easy to make money with Adsense - not so much any more. The best way is to get a lot of well targeted traffic - but if you can do that you can monetize it much better in other ways than Adsense.

Build something useful to others. Write something unique and meaningful. Google will then bring a lot search traffic to the page.

Proof: this webpage ( One of the best subway systems in the world ) highlights how bad the subway system in Canada. Every day, there are over 100 visits from Google search to this single page for almost 2 years already.

First and best advice I have is never take advice from people on the internet....Look at some of the threads, you could ask what does SEO stand for and get 10 different responses.

Best thing you can do is google search for things, test different concepts, strategies and tactics until you find something that matches your skill set.

Change the colors of your text and ads with visual website optimizer or by hand, and run layout changes till you hit the sweet spot

  • Quite simply, I advise to splittest the location, size and appearance of your ads.

I had a blog that was making $.5 a day, moved ads to the "1 oclock" position and it jumped to a few dollars a day.

I'm not driving a boat from these payments, but you can see that adjusting location can be a huge plus.

Make the ads "above the fold" if you can for huge boosts.

The real problem is with the CPC
I get about 30 clicks per day but it doesn't total beyond $3 to $5

What to do to improve the CPC?

I received a mail from Google Adsense team about 6 days back and they asked me to create custom channels. I did as advised and guess what happened?
It went to an all time low- about 5 cents per click for the past three days.

I am losing my patience with Google...the very blog used to give me a minimum of 30 cents per click...Any idea what has gone wrong with my campaign?
The blog link is my signature.

my best tip for you to increase revenue is to not use adsense lol. your CPC is low because your website does not target any specific keyword or niche thus Google advertises a broad range of ads based on demographics and maybe some keywords that might have some relevance to your website, advertisers pay little for these kinds of ads thus resulting in a lower CPC.

you might wanna try running different types of ads on your website if you have decent traffic.

if you insist on using adsense then maybe some advice would be:

    1. try out different ad positions to get more clicks

    2. put ads in pages which are more targeted so that you get higher CPC
e.g. if you have a page about internet marketing then it is more likely that when you put adsense on the page the ads would be about internet marketing which will give you higher CPC

The blog gets about 5000 page views per day..and you are right, it doesn't address a specific set of keywords.
