I have a wordpress site about five months old. I have also started a new blog on blogger.com two days back.

I am thinking of writing two posts a week in my new blog and give links of my main wordpress site relevant pages or home page in each of my new post on blogger.com.

Will this be considered as a legitimate / white hat practice and not penalized by google.

Google counts the highest PR backlink on the domain.

So, link to your other site once and focus on getting that post/page high PR.

Do you have any evidence for this?

My experience is the opposite - rankings for some of my pages have improved after getting additional links from sites that had already linked to the same page.

This is a white hat practice and Google do not penalized for this. Make sure you do not simply put Backlink.

      For Example:
In your Blogger Post there is a word say "Internet Marketing". And there is a post related to "Internet Marketing" in your Main Site, then you can link that particular URL in your blogger post.

      This helps a lot

Any more expert views on above method. What they think, will it be beneficial for my main 5 months old wordpress site?

It will help .. but not much. The links to your worpdress blog will come from one domain, blogspot. So whether you post the links in the first post of the blogspot blog, or post two new posts a week on the blogspot blog, it will not matter much.

What does matter is the pagerank of your blogspot blog. Can you raise it to a PR4 or PR5? Then a link from that will be worth a lot more from a PR0 blogspot (with one post or 40 posts).

    Makes sense?

From my point of view, this is a clean tactic. Though there are things you should be doing or else this will provide you no value in the long run. For instance, when linking back to your wordpress site from your blogger, try to differentiate the keywords used as anchor texts. Be natural and descriptive as much as possible. Avoid linking back to your wordpress site using the same keyword all the time.

Believe me, you should try, test out every backlink strategy you have.

I guess it is legitimate. The only thing that you need to consider is diversification in anchor text.
