I will rewrite a squidoo lens trying to make it rank higher.
My main keyword will be how to use twxas instruments ba II plus.
I have already made a couple of sales with the existing lens Tips on how to use a financial calculator .

Do you think "how to use texas instruments ba II plus" would be more effective in terms of sales? My doubt is that it would attract people who already own it.

    People who search for "how to use texas instruments ba II plus" are looking for a very specific thing which is good. That's what you want.

    My only question would be -- do the people making the search already own the calculator and are looking for "how to's".

    I think you're on the right path though.

      Not if you're selling them, it isn't. That isn't your market, or your targeting, at all: people looking for information about that are mostly those who already have one.

    Always think about what people will actually type into Google, what would YOU type into Google if searching for this?

    Get a copy of Market Samurai or use Google Trends or Keyword tool to determine # of searches per day.

    That sounds a bit TOO long-tail for me, and even though you might get a click or two, it won't generate enough money to be worth the investment (in SEO)

    Alexa beat me to the punch. I was just about to say a good percentage might already have one.

    You should probably focus on:

    1) Brand keywords (like texas instruments, ba ii plus, older versions of the ba ii plus, etc)

    2) Buying keywords (buy financial calculator, purchase financial calculator, best price financial calculator, etc)

    3) Solution keywords (how do I calculate futures value ... where you would presell the value of owning a financial calculator and how much it sucks doing it by hand)

    This keyword has 91 exact searches and 19 competitors.

    In fact the material i have is about how to use it. I have a note about that specific calculator which this month has got a CTR of about 8%. Anyway i hope that first place in google might help me in squidoo ranking as well.

    I appreciate your advice and i will consider it because it stands to reason.
