Backlinks on old domain

Can you please help me, i am very new to this sort of thing but i have bought a domain name that used to have a very high page rank in a specific business sector i also understand it had loads of backlinks from strong websites as this was previously owned by a very large organisation. However for the last few months no website has been attached to this domain and i wanted to know if the backlinks would still exist to the home page if i recreated a website. We will be working in a similar industry sector as the previous owners. This is also an exact match domain.

  • What backlink analysis tool are you using to verify? I recommend checking out Ahrefs for that.
  • Yes, the links will persists if you don't change the URL. Even if you change the URL, set 301 redirect on the old URL to the new one.
