    Yes, very enraging.

Out of interest, what did you do to the domain once you'd bought it to keep it a PR4?

So you bought a domain and put 3 words on it?

You need to do your homework at the beginning, as Andy said.

Google is not stupid - they know when a domain changes hands.

Also - how did you confirm that the PR was genuine before you bought it?

It's easy to fake Page Rank.

Also - did the seller guarantee to keep the links that gave it PR4 pointing to it?

I've seen a lot of people renting high PR links so that they can point them to a domain then sell it, then rinse and repeat, but the unfortunate buyer ends up back with zero.

You need to know what you're buying, why it has the PR in the first place and whether that will still be in place after a sale.

It's not hard for Google to see these things and behave accordingly.

Excuse my ignorance but I honestly had no idea people used PR as a measure of anything anymore. Isn't that old school? Does page rank really mean anything nowadays?

No - but that doesn't stop people telling gullible newbies it has value when selling them stuff.

Like with .edu domains - lots of people still promote their value because it's easy to snag newbies who don't know better.

Just wait ... I had that happening to me couple of times. PR will be refreshed after a while and get back to whatever it was before. Typically in about 3-4 weeks.

The first thing I buy an aged domain is private whois my domain name as when google notice there is a change in ownership in the domain name , they may reset your PR to 0
