About C-class IP diversity.

Hi,
I know there have been a lot of debates of effectiveness when it comes to c-class ip diversity. I remember around 2008-9 a lot of people are saying it didn't matter and then after 2009 more people are starting to say the importance of it.
After the recent big changes in Google, is there any change in this as well?
Also, if any of you think it's not important then do you still host many sites on the same server and link to the money site and get results?
I actually do host my sites on c-class ip server and rank OK but I wonder how much difference it is making.
